Budget Gaming system

Ok here's the deal. I don't want to go totally budget. just want to get my moneys worth. I think the 4850 beats the 3870. and the E6300 CPU gives me some room to upgrade GPU if I want to.

just one question. will the 4850 be the extra moneys worth. will the E2200 or E5200 keep up with the graphics card. it's not that much cheaper anyway but every little helps.

should I stick with plain DDR2 800mhz or will the 1066 gaming memory be the worth the extra money.

Case: want the best price together with cooling, must be able to fit a 4850 etc etc. The cm690 price is good and so is stock cooling. gives me room to add more fans in future.

O before I forget. I will also go Nvidia if it's cheaper vs performance. I don't really have a budget. just go as low as possible without sacrificing to much in performance decrease.

1) HD4850 is an amazing card, you won't go wrong there and you wont regret it.
2) Stay with the E6300 and overclock it abit, you can push it to 3.2GhZ with ease.
3) For a pretty budget system, don't waste your money buying DDR1066. Rather go
for the DDR800. For what you using it, you won't even notice it.

4) My server I run a E2200 Overclocked to 3GHZ coupled with 2GB of ram with a
Nvidia 9600GT and i can run pretty much any game i want with ease :)
So your "budget" system will easily cope for 2years or so.

5) Case really is just down to personal taste and if you prefer full of midi tower
Full tower is a bastard to lug around if you love lanning. Great for lotsa HDD's
and fans though ;)

thanks for the input. I don't care about a case. as long as the cooling is great and price is right I will go for it.

won't the DDR1066 give me some advantage to overclocking. Its only like R128 or will I be better to save some money there and then put like R200 extra and get a CPU cooler.

You can save a couple rands on the HDD as well at PC Int, it's R540 there. Ordered one yesterday for my new rig:)

I think it's already been mentioned but the Sapphire HD4850 is also cheaper there, about R1100.

hu. HDD is cheaper now about R534 also they don't have the P43 in stock anymore only the P45. and the 4850 at Pcint is 512 mine is 1GB

You wanna play games in 1080p? LoL Good luck with that on a budget computer. Most games will eat your computer alive at that Resolutions :p

Budget pc gaming and 1080P dont mix dude.

I agree with Gradius. upcomming games will Eat your pc up at HD rez like pacman does those dots.

It's like going to a car dealer, asking him for a cheap car, that's light on fuel, reliable, but it must do 0-300 in 10 seconds.

for a casing have a look at the coolermaster gladiator ... nice cheap casing that has plenty of features ...

go for the e5200 over the e2200, yes the e2200 can overclock nicely but so can the e5200 ... and yes you will notice where that extra cache comes in when you play games ... i know cause im suffering with my e4500, its overclocked to 3GHz with a 8800GT and i still struggle to keep a constant 250fps in cod4 at 128x1024 with some eye candy ... my gold ak doesnt look like a piece of wood ;)

And since when does COD4 have a Gold AK? You sure you not getting confused with Far Cry2? :)

DiceAir

I'll try and help you as best as I can here.

720p = 1280x720 progressive scan
1080p = 1920x1080/1920x1200 progressive scan(screen dependant)

Firstly you'll need a proper lcd screen for to even to be able to take advantage of this?
What screen you got for your pc? Or are you planning on using a tv for HD?

For a PC Screen you need atleast a 22" for example Samsung T220. Which has HDCP for 1080p resolution. These screens are not cheap with this capability though.

Since Nvidia released the 6600GT they have been supporting HD gaming so to say :)

1GB for your GFX card is as such. The memory size of a graphics card refers to the extent to which it can support graphics operations without tapping into the PC’s memory.
So yes it does help HD, but your core clock speed and memory speed counts alot too.

I would recommend 9600GT or HD3870(both which are extremely cheap atm) for your HD viewing atleast.

You can play Crysis @ HD resolution though 1900x1200(no AA, no AF)
So you can forget about all the nice flashy options that would truly make HD Gaming possible.

If you any more questions, ask away. I'll help as much as possible :)

how about htis case. Price seems right http://www.phase2.co.za/index.php?p...category_id=35&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1 The price is great. I already got a Acer 23" screen at home.

I just want to tell you again. This is a LAN pc nothing big. I'm not going to play games on it every time only at LANs. if I can get that case even cheaper at rAge I'll take it.

I can run cod4 with my config on a E7300, ATI4670 1GB, 2GB Memory, etc etc at 125FPS constant at resloution of 1920x1080. O and BTW that full GFX with some minor tweaks.

Why would you need to run @ 250fps? When you can't even see the difference :p

cod4 is basically runned on a quake3 engine ... 250fps is a sweet spot enabling you to make jumps easier and sometimes tank more shots ... 333fps is also a sweet spot where they literally cant kill you, but you will get kicked on servers for it since they limit the max fps to 250 ...

if you dont evens know about the gold ak47 in cod4 then why you bothering to comment/quote me? ai ... rather keep your comments to yourself plz if you dont know what you talking about :p

diceair ... i honestly dont think you would beable to find a cheap casing at rage ... everything will be overpriced mostly probably ... try speaking to trompie from the igame forum, he is an admin there too ... he will have a stand at rage, computersonly.co.za i think it is ...

i would say rather get a 4850 or 4770 than that 4670 ... there difference is kinda big ... have a look ... http://www.techspot.com/review/163-radeon-hd-4770/

Does it really matter if I found the Gold AK or not? It doesn't make things any different

And anyways, how would you technically be able to prove you can jump easier when the human eye can't see that fast?
