Budget headphone buying advice

What do you guys think about skullcandy headphones

The ink'd buds are okay... Would rather pay that R199 for a Sennheiser or Klipsch pair though. As for the Low Rider and Hesh 2.0 Bass, Bass and more Bass, they are made to produce massive amounts of Bass. god only knows why people still buy those, I like to listen to music not a monotone blast of sound. So unless you want Low's and no Highs then I would suggest trying some other brand.

You should give Gemini a try, I got a friend that got the DJX-03's he is quite impressed with them so far (Had them 6 months) they are the better equivalent to the Low Riders and the DJX-05 is to the Hesh.

Most of the time, i listen to what is loosely called "classical" music.....or whatever the soundtrack isfor the game i am playing. I wouldn't describe myself as discerning or an audiophile though, hence the decision to limit myself to a maximum of R400 rather than save up for the better part of a year for high-end cans. For that sort of cash, i would rather thimk of saving to replace my b75 motherboard with a z77....though whether doing so would be of much benefit to me in particular is moot.

R400 won't get you much in the way of Quality but I got a set of these for a client and he is extremely happy

Alternatively if you don't need a Mic I have a spare set of American Audio HP 700 which are utterly brilliant and pretty much blows any gaming headset out the water for like R400 if you want them :)

There is no better option for you other than those bad boys that Joker is offering you. You are basically buying a R1100 RRP headphone for R400. R400 as some of the previous comments state is just not a great budget for any type of quality Audio experience. Skull Candy is not advisable as they just don't have the range to really give you those clear highs and subtle lows that you would expect. If price is the only qualifying criteria then you might as well give them a go. I would go with Hesh 5.0 if I was forced to go that route. I hope you do come right with your purchase. GL
