Budget motherboard guide

Budget? I see no budget anything in that article. Recommending a board that goes for R1500 is not budget. It's a very cool article, but it's named wrong.

The best budget amd mobo IMO is the Biostar A780G m2 + Se , It supports Am3 cpu's out the box just like the more expensive am2+ asus boards, it supports acc thus you can unlock dorment cores on phenom II x2's and X3's, Its got an onboard Radeon Hd3200 (DX10) (Not the GMA type crap than intel makes for their boards) which you can use to play most games acceptably on low detail or use it in hybrid crossfire mode with another ati graphics card it has alot more features and the board is less than R700.

Thats a good budget board

This provides an interesting choice for those currently in possession of an AM2+ CPU, in that they can splash out on an AM3 board, and upgrade the CPU at a later stage. Due to the small price difference, one should lean toward the AM3 socket motherboards, which come in at around R2000 for a high end gaming board.

Its the other way around Tinny ! Am3 Cpu's work in Am2+ boards not the other way around

Depends on your perspective tbh. For me, an R1500 board is very much a budget board, since I'm looking to spend around R5000 on a new one...

I assume you ignored the part where I mentioned it's about your perspective, and the part where I went on to explain why...?

Bru, in my PC to build next year I'll only look at spending R1500 and I consider that to be non-budget. It's like some PC mags will say things like - "Oh ja just grab this and this, totaling 4k, it's budget but it will do" - to people asking budget advice.

ahaha cabby for the win there :D

i totally disagree with this, R1500 is not a budget board by any means
budget is below R1k

Green_Orb, where u spending R5k on a board?
I bought the Republic of Gamers mobo and that only set me back R2700

MSI X58 Eclipse Plus :)

For everyone moaning about this article not including any budget solutions:

LGA 775 socket motherboards can still be found, but they vary greatly in price depending on features (from R500 to over R2000). This socket supports the old Core 2 and Quad processors, which will still perform admirably for a gaming system over the next year or two, but there is no real upgrade path for these systems other than the GPU.

That got anything to do with it? ;)

We're sponsored P55 goodies, I need X58 to fully support my 5870s ;)

But yeah, it has a bit to do with it. Don't forget though, that the EVGA Classified is around the same price as the MSI, and the MSI is just as good up to the point u use DICE or LN2.
