Build a gaming PC for the price of a PS4

Where's the bluray drive and the 8GB RAM?
This is pretty silly given how the PS4 is mass produced. Obviously its going to be cheaper than a PC.
Equivalent PC would probably be around R10 000. You'd need a much better CPU. Plus you'd need at least an 7850.
On top of all that games run better on console because they are designed for console. Far less overhead. Hopefully Mantle will help PC users with that. I'm seriously considering getting a console. I'm finding PC gaming less and less worth it.

Making a game for a console is easier than for a PC. Hence why console games are so well optimised when they launch, (Special case is Battlefield 4, that has been a nightmare across every platform).

I am considering a console aswell, but I won't part take in the circle jerk that both console and PC gamers are taking part in, what happened to just playing games?

...and that is why I shall have both, for now.

Fair enough, but consoles have a shitload of excellent exclusives. Having both is the best obviously.

I don't get why they couldn't also be on PC.

I really wanted to play halo on PC,also wanted to get GearsOfWar when i saw the mad world trailer.

So they can sell more consoles I suppose. Like now with Dead Rising 3 being an Xbone exclusives. The framerate and other technical issues with the game made me think I should rather wait for it to come to PC, but I might eventually end up buying an Xbone just for it.

Because Microsoft didn't, and still doesn't, care about PC gaming. They only care so far as Windows', DirectX's and Intel's dominance is concerned.

They let down almost every single gamer using the Windows Live client for PC's (it was shoddy), they're switching off those servers entirely in 2015 (because they willingly let the service stagnate) and their store has no way for Steam, Origin and uPlay to have their clients on the Windows 8.1 OS - instead they're going to bombard you with a thousand $2.99 games that can be bought on a whim on the Microsoft store. They haven't cared since the desktop market started to shrink because consoles and casual gamers are more lucrative.

Personally I would exclude the OS from the quote, you still need a computer for work so IMO its a sunk cost. A 6k upgrade makes more sense to me

It's a monopoly people the sooner we realize that pc gaming will always be the black sheep as long as people think only about making money and not giving gamers what they want this will continue and we will be like Oliver Twist asking please sir can we have some more?

Just to be slapped across the fingers and being told "but console is the way to go" and the pc gaming community is dying out.

"We will not go quietly into the night!" is all i can say :p

I don't see MS get royalties from PC games that run on windows, on Xbox however...
