What games you want to play?
First thing to try and do is keep an eye out for a secondhand i5, 3rd or 4th gen.
and i5 2500k will also do but they tend to be 4 to 5 years old.

Getting a 3rd or 4th gen would decide your build basically.
If you only tend to play things like DOTA2 and PS3, Xbox360 ports, you might get away with a duo core like G3258 (Can get for R800 with clever use of vouchers with Kalahari and Takealot)
The prices you will be looking at for an i5 would be around R1300 -> R2400 (Secondhand -> New)
Unfortunately the Rand/Dollar took a huge knock so almost everything have increased. Things are only gonna get worst with a forecast of the Rand/Dollar to go to R14-R15 by end of next year.
