Buying a Steering Wheel

I'm going to buy a steering wheel for my pc (well, for me, but for use on my pc). Did some searching and found this review for the Logitech Driving Force GT wheel. I'm kinda new at this... uhm... buying toys, for my toys thing (never tried a joystick or other type of controller before... just keyboard and mouse).

So does anybody have any thoughts on this product? Or suggestions for other products in the same price range seeing that this one was first released in 2007 already, so I suppose there should be newer products available by now?

I wouldn't want to go over R1500, but I don't really have a clue what to look for / what to avoid when it comes to steering wheels... I see the prices start from R300 and range to a couple of grand, but have no idea what makes the one better than the other... I just know I want to drive properly / more accurately. I have most of the Need for Speed games and Grid on which I'll be cruising around with my steering wheel, if that makes any difference.

Good product, the DF-GT.
Personally bought one as well, but for PS3 (Gran Turismo 5).

Lacks the extreme precision of the higher quality (and pricetag) wheels, but makes up for it in simplicity and rugged construction.

Haven't used it on my PC yet, as I do not own any PC racing games.

I notice your user-details say you're in Nelspruit.
Maybe you would be interested in buying my Driving Force GT second-hand?

Very little use on it in fact. Stopped playing PS3 altogether about 2 months after buying it...
Lemme know.

I got the G25 for PS3(GT) and dont use it anymore, its far too hardcore for gaming.(my personal opinion).
Always finding myself thrown around the room, sometimes felt like i was driving with a truck.
Though i do love the clutch system with either up/down shift, or old school gearbox, it made doing drifts a little more challenging.

My overall comlaint is that having a 720 deg turning radius sucks, when you hit a wall, the wheel acts like you hit a wall, when you are in a serious race and coming out of your accident i get very frustrated due to the fact that i dont know if im dam centered. It looks centered but really im turning left or right.

Just checked a video for this one and it looks very nice. I like the separate gears which means you can put it on the left side (being South African and all). It is just way more than what I'm willing to pay.

Hey soz man, was just giving my 2 cents into the purchasing pool.
Agree though it is a really expensive wheel, got mine second hand for R1500 so not going to complain.
Usually wait for someone to sell their stuff on PS3za forums.

That steering wheel you want to get isn't bad at all, its actually tried and tested and is more compitable with games than the G25 aswell.

No worries... Not knowing anything about this, I welcome any info I can get.
