C&C 4 will require internet connection when playing.

No Hobbits Allowed
As of right now, you need to be online all the time to play C&C 4. This is primarily due to our "player progression" feature so everything can be tracked. C&C 4 is not an MMO in the sense of World of Warcraft, but conceptually it has similar principles for being online all the time. While some may be taken aback by this, we've been testing this feature internally with all of our world-wide markets. We wanted to make sure it wouldn't take away any significant market or territory from playing the game. We have not found or seen any results that have made us think otherwise. You won't need a fast connection, in fact, you could be on age-old dial-up, and have the same single player experience as everyone else. Online all the time won't cause lag for single-player. We've also heavily worked on the online infrastructure such that people with slower connections will not lag other players with faster connections in Multiplayer.

"player progression" - for single player? So in other words they've forgotten how to save to the HDD for that? Dont see why your single player experience needs to be stored ONLINE.

Why don't they just come out and just say it: Piracy.

The Ass end of the world Strikes out yet again. Oh well. I have a feeling we are going to be seeing more and more of this.

South Africa will really need to get up to date with the bandwidth issue. Games are using more and more bandwidth. For patches or lately even to just play games.

I don't see why people are complaining. If you own a rig powerful enough to run a game like this, you should at least have an "age-old dial-up" connection.

Besides, we all know that two days after release date there'll be workaround for those who refuse to conform.

Rusty has a point... on both Fronts. Plus i dont really play C&C so it doesnt bother me anyways.

For single player it shouldn't be so bad I guess and I agree that it's a good anti piracy measure, but claims that it's good even on dial-up doesn't take into account the fact that you are time limited on dial-up, not bandwidth limited. A single player game like C&C does take some time to get through.
