Cake or Pie?

This is not a bake sale or a poll. It is in fact a statement to those of you who frivolously compare Guild Wars and WoW...

The simple fact of the matter is that it is just an expression of your opinion and you can't prove your opinion. It's like asking the age old question, which is better cake or pie?

Opinions will differ greatly and that's the way it should be, if every one had the same opinion would the fun of actually getting into a pointless virtual argument? Would it even be possible?

Well I like Pie (Guild Wars) you might like Cake (WoW). We all have different reasons why we like cake or pie. The differences in texture, some flavour elements, the presentation of the product, etc.

Some will say cake is better as it offers you more, more choices, size is bigger, it's finished off better, it takes longer to consume than pie.

I will argue that is more always better? I like Pie for the simple reason that it offers me what I need in good sized portions. I can eat a whole pie, but I can't eat a whole cake, I'll get fed up and leave the rest. When I finally remember there's still some cake left, it would be all moldy or dried out.

Other people might have gotten the new Cakes but for me the fact that you need to constantly invest money into your Cake fetish every month to enjoy it. Whereas I bought the Pie and got a voucher for a lifetime supply of Pie and can enjoy it whenever I want to.

Don't get me wrong Pie takes a while to consume and enjoy completely, it isn't something that was rushed or badly presented, no my Pie was decorated in a manner that made the Cake look like a piece of cardboard.

The Cake felt all fluffy and filled with air and the icing was too bland, whilst the Pie had a different flavour with each bite and didn't leave me with a bad after taste of the same old Cake.

At the end of the day my love of Pie won't convince you to leave your Cake and switch over to Pie. You may have tried Pie before, but decided that Cake was more to your liking, which is all fine.

You can have your Cake and eat it too and I'll stick with my Pie, because next year a new Pie is coming out that will change a lot and offer a lot of stuff that even Cake lovers will enjoy.

So my question remains, what do you prefer Cake or Pie?
 
Both are very different games, but certain comparisons can be run.

Personally I prefer cake where I have more to do. I like my MMO's to almost have too much to do, where I can sink thousands of hours and still see a gain in my characters performance.

I played quite a lot of Guild Wars and got bored once I got all the skills I wanted, completed the story arc of all the campaigns and did some minor PvPing. I guess I am more a PvE-er MMO gamer, and Guild Wars is very much a PvP-centric game with some PvE on the side. For me Guild Wars always feels like it lacks longterm meaningful goals. What I mean by that is not some fancy title, or new looking armor, but something that makes your character perform that much better. But that is personal taste since some people love getting titles, achievements and similar in their games.

Guild Wars 2 is looking curious since it seems to be more a mixture of Cake and Pie, rather than the Pie Guild Wars is right now.
 
I like pie...however cake is less forgotten about in this household. Yet a cake does not a luncheon make. Therefore I like pie as it is more filling and well rounded.

Wait, were we talking about games here?
 
I like my Pie as I like to feel that someday, not soon, but someday I might actually finish everything in the game. I've been playing for 2 years (almost) and I finished all the campaigns. I could have finished all the campaigns in probably a month or two, but I got sidetracked so much by something interesting somewhere.

I dabbled in the PvP a bit, but I don't really care for PvP or anything similar. I have recently switch to everything in Hard Mode, which to me is very nice, everything is super difficult and I like that. I started to max my titles, I'm on 8 maxed titles now and still have plenty to go. Then my quest log... my quest log... I wish my bank account looked like my quest log... bursting at the seems!

I also recently started to acquire each and every skill for every profession in the game on my main character, mainly because I want to and also I can then transfer what my other chars need via tomes. 3 more professions to go and then just all the elites I still need.

With all the titles, the quests, etc it'll keep me busy for another 6 months to maximum a year or at least until Guild Wars 2 is released.
 
The cake is a lie (unless it is chocolate):p

I think that either will ever win the argument, as each give total different experiences depending on what you are looking for. I played both guild wars and World of warcraft and enjoyed both for different reasons.
