Haha, well written little article.

Will be interested what they do now, with all the criticism that has come about from MW3's 'lacklustre' difference from MW2 and COD4.

I'm sure everyone was expecting this.

What can I say?

I don't care. *shrugs* I left COD after World at War. There are far more interesting and worthwhile games out there.

Same here, couldnt be bothered with MW3, I played MW2 SP to see the story although didnt bother with black-ops. Definitely alot of other games out there that i would play over CoD at the moment, which sucks because i think i put more hours into CoD2 than any other game except maybe WoW.

EDIT: Infact CoD2 is so awesome me and friends still play it at lans.

I heard that COD2012 will remove dedicated servers, keep console removed, have all the cod4, mw2, mw3 maps just retuxtured, BUT WILL INDTRODUCE LEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOT

preordering now

One would think that the CoD franchise had spanned out as much as it possibly could...yet there's always a new one being released EVERY single year :| Activision should really pull up their socks and work on changing their 'wining formula', come up with something original - completely new, implement a new engine instead of sticking to the old...

Excuse the Noob question but what's the difference between all of these COD's. Isn't just more of the same

Activision have been shifting the Call of Duty franchise between two development studios since 2006; games usually don't only take a year to make, so by doing this, Activision basically assures that they can have an annual Call of Duty release.

Call of Duty 2 was developed by Treyarch in 2006, then Infinity Ward developed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in 2007. Treyarch developed Call of Duty World at War in 2008, and Infinity Ward did Modern Warfare 2 in 2009. Black Ops was a Treyarch game in 2010, and now Modern Warfare 3 was Infinity Ward again this year in 2011.

2012 is likely to continue the trend and give the next Call of Duty to Treyarch to develop.

6 games in as many years means big bank for Activision.

2 year dev cycle hey... that shit is funny coz Skyrim has been in dev since the end of Fallout 3. I thought the general turn around for a AAA title is minimum 3 years, mostly 4. Guess somewhere in there is the whole problem with COD.

Activision will need to get a new engine for the CoD franchise if they want to move anywhere but they are most likely to cash hungry and will only consider it when they are starting to lose money with it.
The only thing I'm looking forward to with the new CoD is the name and that is where it stops.

You are correct, sorry I was thinking of CoD 3; CoD 2 was Infinity Ward in 2005, which is basically when the alternating cycle started up.
