Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Is Using ‘Unique Tech,’ Which Will Be Revealed Later

The newest Call of Duty game, Infinite Warfare, looks like a bit of a disappointment. It’s not the game’s premise, or the direction that the series is taking- though that is apparently a point of contention among the fans, too. No, the big problem here is just how the game looks– especially after the mind blowing reveal of DICE’s Battlefield 1, it looks decidedly last generation. Arguably, it does not even look as impressive as the previous Call of Duty game, the Treyarch developed Black Ops 3.

However, according to Infinity Ward, Infinite Warfare is using some kind of unique technology, that we aren’t privy to yet. However, this new technology will be revealed later- possibly after E3.

What the tech is is currently unknown. It’s entirely possible it is what is enabling the kind of seamless gameplay across land based and space combat that we have seen in Infinite Warfare‘s trailer. Hopefully, it is also something that is currently being worked on, so that the final game looks better than what we have seen so far.

Space fish, or they have no idea and still need to come up with it and they just need say something after the Dice trailer.

lol - marketing department getting ahead of tech there. "Promise them something but keep it vague...we'll find something that fits the bill later".

Fixed it for you "whistling:

Which is essentially the Qauke 3 engine same engine Quake 3 was made from.

So it's Modified ID Tech 3 -> IW 2.0 -> IW 3.0 -> IW 4.0 -> IW 3.0 (Blops used it for some reason) -> IW 5.0 (the MW engine) -> Black Ops II engine(?) -> IW 6.0 -> IW 5.0 (Again went backwards for Advanced Warefare) -> Black Ops III engine (which is BLOPS 2 engine) -> IW 7.0

All in all it's still the 1999 base Q3/ID Tech 3.0 engine, which is impressive for a engine that is almost 17 years old. However Activision needs to really work on a new engine, even if they do not publish a cod for year or two, eventually it's going to start reaching it's limits. Which is has, Ghosts, Advanced Warefare, and Black Ops 3 all basically share the same visual traits and fidelity.

I lol'd.

They're more likely to switch to a quarterly release cycle.

But in all seriousness, if you like COD, buy it, if you dont, leave it. Play what you enjoy.

It's funny I'm no CoD fan - last one I bought was BLOPS2, but even with all the negativity surrounding CoD vs BF it's still gonna sell shit tons and loads more than BF1.

I enjoy playing COD, but for its the tiger woods of FPS. It's nothing special, just fun. Like the coka-cola of games. But with that said, the cokes of the world are cheap because the masses buy it, where as COD is a joke how expensive it is. I just feel they don't put as much effort into their release as Battlefield. I normally only get it a couple years after the release when it's on sale.

With that said, I'm happy with the current state of things, there is a place for both. Everyone needs to be careful what they wish for, i don't want Battlefield to outsell COD, because that would generally mean it has been watered down to appease everyone.

honestly I could care less what a game looks like (within reason). as long as it's fun to play. and judging by the IW trailer I will probably play the fuck out of it because SPACESHIP!
