Can games predict the future?

The Madden Curse strikes again: http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/201...rback-richard-sherman-need-tommy-john-surgery

Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman played Super Bowl XLIX with torn ligaments in his left elbow that may require Tommy John surgery in the offseason, according to a source.

Richard Sherman played Sunday's Super Bowl with torn ligaments in his elbow and may need Tommy John surgery in the offseason, a source told ESPN.

In the NFC Championship game, Sherman suffered ligament damage in his left shoulder. He didn't miss a play from practice and played the entire Super Bowl with the injury.

And guess who's on the front cover?

Coincidence? Pssh.

It's the Freemasons I tells ya!!!

But in all seriousness, a prediction like this is quite indicative of just how accurate the team data is that EA put in their games. Now if only there was a cricket game we could use to predict the Proteas performance in the upcoming world cup.

The problem with that madden curse is that the cover player is the best guy from the previous season. As such he is normally at a peak and now he has pressure to exceed said peak which often increases stress and the risk of injury ect.

So i don't think it's a curse, just stress

The "Madden Curse" is just super coincidence. As Ike said, they pick the best/most popular player to appear on the cover. Football is a physical sport and injuries are inevitable. You put a player in the spotlight and suddenly if he gets injured it's due to a "curse". If the Madden curse is anything to go by, then EA Rugby is also cursed in that players get injured and retire shortly after appearing on the cover. Gregan appeared on a cover and got injured and retired. McCaw appeared on a cover and got injured and retired. Mark Cueto, Yannick Nyanga, Bryan Habana, Schalk Burger, Andre Pretorius, Mauro and Mirko Bergamasco and Stirling Mortlock all appeared on regional covers for different versions of the EA Rugby franchise. All got injured at some point. It's flipping sport, people get injured all the time.

If games predict the future, I'm pretty excited for a Mass Effect future.
