I need the expertise of the my gaming community to help me build my first gaming pc. I don't want to spend more than R9000 excluding a monitor, keyboard and mouse. I want the pc to be superior/on par with the ps4. I've always been a console gamer and i sold my xbox when the ps4 was announced but i was later put off by its media capabilities or should i say incapabilities(i was really disappointed cause i really wanted a ps4) . From my research on pc gaming components I've come with a budget for very good gaming pc.

Gpu: R4000
cpu: R1500
ram: R1000
mb: R1000
hdd: R1000
chasis+psu: R1000

I want it to be able to play most games on ultra at 1080p and room to upgrade in the future. This will be my first rig so i really would appreciate all the help i can get.

If you are super set on the PS4, just hold off a little longer. They will eventually bring in multimedia capabilities through a firmware update.

Hi

This is just a quick build that should hit most games at high/ultra settings.

CPU: Intel i5 4440 Quad Core 3.1GHz - R2475
RAM: Corsair Vengeance With Blue Heatsink 4GB DDR3 1600MHz - R658
Motherboard: MSI H81M-P32 H81 - R766
GPU: SAPPHIRE DUAL-X R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 - R3460
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB - R846 or Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA III 7200RPM - R839
Chassis: CoolerMaster Elite 370 - R534
PSU: Corsair CX500 - R718

Total: R9457/R9450, so its only a little bit over budget.

All the prices are from Wootware.

@The Joker, what do you think?

Aren't green hard drives slower than normal hard drives?

Good build. A little thin on the RAM side but I don't see a way to fix that within the budget without taking a significant hit elsewhere.
Without taking a significant hit, there isn't a way of increasing the RAM short of increasing his budget to R10k and double the RAM.

R8802

R200 under budget, 8GB ram and a fairly decent gaming machine. Will run most games on high to maxed out settings except for maybe BF4 but even that you'll be able to do a mix of high and ultra.

Thanks a lot

Wondering where can one find pre-built rigs . Are pre built rigs an option vs custom builds, when it comes to affordability

If you buy the parts from Rebeltech they will assemble the rig for you free of charge.
Don't bother looking at pre built machines because they are almost always under powered and over priced.

I also don't mind putting it together for you.

Is that power supply sufficient for a rig like that?
