hi
this is my first post :)
I wonder if this would work, i heard it does but i can't find it anywhere on the internet.

if you go with Mweb uncapped 384 kbps at R219 and buy a 10 mbps line rental at R413
you pay R632 per month and it goes at 10 mbps even though you pay for 384 kbps because telkom throttles it not mweb.
please can anyone tell me if it works.
thanks so much

This sounds more to me to openweb uncapped where it can go up to 10meg in certain hours.

The mweb page is too busy atm to check. Remember its a 4meg line and if your lucky you will get a 10meg from telkom.

Telkom does not throttle you when you don't have a data package from them. The ISP that your with will throttle you.

The guy is looking for some way to cheat the systems involved, and get more than what he's paying for.

The end of it, Sir, is No.
Even if you do manage to cheat someone's system, you can be criminally charged for it. Fraud is fraud.

Get over yourself and pay what is needed to get what you need.

Actually Mweb is the fraudulent party.

They advertise their service to me as a 4096 package where I pay R539 per month. Yet I don't even get steam download speeds in excess of 15KB/s. I play Starcraft 2 semi-professionally and i have constant lag because I am not allowed to use my full capacity.

Advertising Product A letting the consumer pay for Product A and giving them a service worse than Product C is fraud.

A but this is where the Fair use policy comes into affect so not fraud since its there in writing.

You can't hide behind a fair useage policy. If you get a service worse than other products that you offer there is something seriously wrong.

It's also false advertising, because they advertise a 4mb uncapped account, not an get 4mb after 1AM account.

Bit off topic here, but had a bit strange experience with Mweb lately.

Know all those speed tests? Like speedtest.net, MyBB's speed tests etc. I do those and the results show pretty low speeds, lower than my speed should be for my line BUT I get full speed on mweb's own made speedtest program (they insisted I do the test there). I posted this in the Mweb Uncapped Feedback topic, and a few hours later I was phoned by mweb. They said that I will always get bad speeds on other speed test websites, and it's normal, other than mweb's own one. That's how it works.

Is this true? I don't remember this happening back on my Afrihost account.. I'm not very computer savvy, but this sounds a bit strange.

Gimaru:

Yes, It's quite normal that an on-net speedtest will report better results.
Same as the difference between local gaming servers and international gaming servers, really.

But in essence, all that means is that the larger the difference between the different speedtest, the more unstable the connection and transports really are.

There's 25% (of total speed) difference in download speed between mweb's test and other tests.
