Car PORN thread

That's the biggest culprit for sports and hyper car accidents. Big rear wheel drive high power/torque and people who don't realize how much power they have and overcook it.

The reality is that many car manufacturers have shared platforms. GM, Ford/Mazda and Kia/Hyundai are probably the best examples.

Take the GM4200 platform that was used for the following cars Chevrolet Montana, Chevrolet Agile, Chevrolet Prisma, Chev Classic, Chev Celta, Chev Corsa, Chev Chevy, Buick Sail, Holden Barina, Opel Corsa A & B, Opel Vita, Vauxhall Nova and Vauxhall Corsa.

Ford and Mazda generally have quite a number of crossovers take the Focus, Mazda 3, Mazda 5 and the Volva C30, C70 & S40 all share the same platform.

Nissan, Renault, Dacia and Lada all share common platforms as well the Nissan Micra, Renault Clio, Nissan Tiida, NP 200 and Dacia/Renault Sandero all share a common platform.

These "common platforms" take a lot of duplicate engineering effort out of the cars and really allow for more "common" components to be shared across makes/models. Less things to manufacture should in practice result in cheaper cars. What does tick me off is that the Renault Sandero we get in SA is just a badge engineered Dacia Sandero with absolutely NO changes to anything and the same engine (barring the gearbox, but including everything else) that goes in the Sandero goes straight into the Nissan NP200.

To this day, my wife won't believe that the Audi A3 and Golf had the same front suspension and shared some engine components. I even remember taking out our old VW Type 2's engine with my dad, with the Audi badge and VW badge stamped right next to each other on the engine block.

A new spy video gives us a closer look at the 2018 BMW Z5 Roadster. The new Z5 is the first model co-developed with Toyota which will make the production of this Z5 more profitable. BMW aims to reinvent the sports roadsters segment with a range of cars designed with a unique and avant-garde design combined with typical roadster proportions – long bonnet , short rear overhang and a very low driving position situated practically on the rear axle.

Its design will see some cues from the BMW 328 Hommage and Vision ConnectedDrive, so expect a classic, yet futuristic design that will steal the show.

All these posts of modified cars....it's all not for me thank you. I honestly don't like a car that has so much done on it. A car must be sculpted from the start to be a beauty... something like these ladies:

Those 2 are quite possibly the finest looking automobiles ever created for any purpose by any person

Ah yes, all these are truly beautiful. Classic, elegant, refined. All exactly what a car is supposed to look like.

Then there is this hunk of a car:
