Cellphone Upgrade Time

Regarding the Nokia 920.

Apparently the phone starts off with poor battery life and gets better after a week of charging and using it. It sounds like in the beginning it lasts about 6 hours or so but after a week it lasts longer than a day and better when you switch off LTE. I don't actually own the phone so this is only from what I have read here and there.

There's a 920 thread at MyBroadband under the Windows Phone subforum which may be worth a read. As far as I remember it's about 20 or so pages long though but maybe you will get some insight.

Ok, so I just finished reading all 19 pages of the 920 on MyBroadband. Some of their issues are a bit concerning (but then again, that is typical of the Microsoft we've come to know and love :)), but that camera is amazing. As seen in the pics below (taken from the MyBB thread). Taken at night wit the 920 and the Desire HD for comparison.

It's a tough choice between the 3 phones, but after reading the specs of the HTC One X Plus, I'm kinda leaning towards that one. Seems to be the same as the S3 and One X, but with more speed, space and battery life.

Now I must just get my hands on it to see how it works. Will try to see of Vodacom in the mall next to me has any samples to play with next week.
Thanks for all the input

hey i live in that complex....

Otherwise you really can't go wrong with a Samsung Galaxy S3. It's a powerhouse phone and in my eyes the perfect size for what a smartphone should be these days. It's Android so your .NET skills won't help, except if you are prepared to pay for Mono.

Just got an email from Syncfusion with an offer where I get Orubase for free if I renew my subscription (or purchase a new one) with them for a ridiculous price... so perhaps I'll be able to use my .NET skills on Android / iPhone after all. I haven't had time to really look at Orubase, but from what I understand, it lets you develop something with MVC which runs as an app on all three major mobile OSes.

Then again, as per my OP, I've had this ability for almost 6 years now and have yet found time to actually create anything. :)

thanks Viper but to be a bit of a fangirl... here is 2 1 great photo and one blah foto taken with the S3, now you can compare the S3's camera as well.20130102_132748.jpg20121110_212355.jpg

If you can wait bud and I really recommend you do wait just over a month you will have a Choice of 3
First
HTC One X + ( get the plus the few tweaks they added give it just that little edge over the S3)

Second
Droid DNA (or J Butterfly depending on region and Carrier ) Read this HTC Droid
Im waiting for that spec wise there is nothing like it Atm next closest

Third
Nexus 4

With regards to battery life most these phones will give you is a day and half of complete usage , remember its smartphones now and we do more than just make calls with internet, apps, HD displays, cameras all these use battery power ( but the battery is so much better than any Blackberry )
Expect to charge your phone at the end of everyday if you going to use it a lot .

Ah cool, I didn't even know about Orubase. :)

The same thing happened to me regarding creating apps. I went to Microsoft Dev Days about 2 years ago and they were hyping Windows Phone 7 and how easy it is to develop for it. I was sold on the idea and got myself the HTC Mozart. I even got a 1 year free App Hub membership. In the end I developed an app about halfway and then just never really got into it again.

It's so easy to develop for it but it still takes time and time is precious.

So I got my Samsung Galaxy S3 today. I wanted to go for the One X or One X+, but all of a sudden the One X+ disappeared from places where I could pre-order with no ETA and the One X was abruptly discontinued. So S3 it is, and a very nice phone at that. Thinner and lighter than my old HTC Touch HD 2.

I just have one (perhaps silly) question, but how do I automatically install all the apps linked to my Google account on the phone. I've already have lots of apps installed on my tablet, but would like those same apps on the phone now without going through it one by one.
