Changing Forum Username

Hey

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am new here and not sure who to ask. Also, is there a built-in search functionality for this forum, or do you have to use g00gle?

Anyways, I signed up awhile ago, and just chose a default username. I would like to change it.

Anyone know how?

You will have to contact an admin or moderator and ask nicely. I remember something about them not allowing name changes anymore but since you have so few posts they may just allow it. :)
 
Yeah from what I've heard in my short time here username changes are no longer allowed. As for searches, in every sub-forum (E.g. Gaming News Articles) there is a search option in the top right corner just above all the topics:

Well I have had this account since 2009, so while I haven't posted much, I don't want to start over.

PS, Gaaty, I recognise your username from xbox. Think I played gears with you last year...

I assume your referring to the email account, since you joined the forum in 2011?
 
The main reason for refusing username change requests now is that it confuses the existing membership - imagine interacting with someone day in and day out, and suddenly they are "gone" and there is a new guy around with loads of posts.

Secondarily, it becomes a lot of time wasting admin to change names all the time since gamers especially have this habit of having 1001 different online handles.

In this case, I may be willing to change a username once for an old low-post account that is returning and hasn't really got a foothold here yet - but that will be your lot as people will start to become familiar with the new name.
 
Oh crud, so name changes arnt happening anymore :(

I wanted to change my forum username to the forum username I use on MyBroadband Forums. Guess I will have to stick it out with this name.
 
may i suggest that a user can change their name once per year or something?
They would also have to post that they are changing it in a thread.

This would limit the confusion and stop people changing names 24/7

Still think its a bad idea... I used to be a regular on the Warcraft 3 forums, war3.co.za then Twilightgaming, And there was a real Douch who acted like a dick and everyone was down voting him on the rep system, so he asked for a name change and then people thought he left, but soon picked up on the douchness of his new nick...

I think its best just to leave it as is... It would get really confusing with friends lists etc... you go look for someone to send them a message and they gone? Now how do you know who they are?

Well if they are actually your friend they would have warned your first :P
