So, who here has the same views as me regarding character names?

I know RP servers have set rules on how you should name your character and the other servers don't, but I think it should be the same on all servers.

I hate grouping with people with retarded names like Wishiwascool, Huntard, Holidin etc.

I mean...have some imagination.

My character names are:

Valgard -> Mage
Demilish -> Priest
Schmerz -> Rogue
Nephius -> Paladin

Whats your thoughts? :p
 
I'm on an RPPvP server and there are some quirky and also some very idiotic names.

In particular there is an undead rogue called "hugme". I always hug him and he always hugs me back. It makes me feel loved.

Another funny one is a Tauren/cow druid called "moofasa".

My Draenai Pally tank was called "Baksteen"

Either way, RP or not ... If I ever roll a hunter I'm going to get me a raptor pet and call him "Roflsaurus"

Something like Silentninja for a warlock? makes no sense...its a name...will you name your kid Hugme? :p

Same principle, really o_O
 
I suppose you COULD call your kid ;drop table; but that would just wreak havoc at a school with unsecured database entry requirements.

I have a Dwarf Pally called Bryson.

I tend to agree though, the silly names can be a bit distracting.

I may be one of the only people left who play WOW for the fantasy immersion, so I like names that are at least vaguely rooted in the fantasy genre. I slowed down on the WOW playing when it all started feeling a bit like a numbers game..

Method has some cool ones
 
I've found that names are often a reflection of the person behind the character, joining or starting a group and finding people with names like "wtfipwnz" or the ever popular "legolass" derivatives usually is followed by me leaving the group or not giving invites.

have seen some good names like a cow druid called "Fullcream" and a shammy called "Sangorma"

That's quite cool actually. "Schmerz" = German for "Pain"

When I played guild wars I went for the fantasy names such as a blonde ranger named Feanor Valinor (taken from The Silmarillion)

I also enjoy everyday names i.e. a mate's pally named "Trevor" and another hunter mate asked for a name for his hyena...so I named him "Steve" :D
 
I used to choose a RP / Fantasy name but went for an Afrikaans name when I moved to the EU servers. It made it easier to meet other South African Players.

I tried 'Beer' (Bear) for my druid but it was taken and I ended up just being Olifant and everyone just calls me Oli nowdays.

I'll not mention my alt's names.

My buddy has a human warrior called Lepcrush, and a gnome mage called Crikwik.

Those are cool.

I once saw an epic lvl 70 Roge called Collin, i quite enjoyed that
 
My pally is called thatdude,
its always hilarious when people tell someone to invite me to tank something "oh invite thatdude"
and they ask who????
and the guy is like THATDUDE

also got a shaman called Moekie and a druid called everfresh
and a frost mage called frosperity
 
haha yea i spotted some afrikaans dude running around the other day and I asked him where in SA he was from, he was like OMW HOW DID YOU KNOW,
The dude was Called Injoumoer.....:D
