Chess Conquest - South African social chess website

I hate chess. My main gripe is since it's basically a war game, why can't you cheat?
I mean since when does anybody fight a war fairly?
And why no arms escalation?

LOL... not to sure how they could bend the rules of chess to allow for cheating.

I suppose promoting your pawn to a queen when it reaches your opponent's back line could be seen as an arms escalation?

Or draughts?

I tried this site out for 1 game but the Romanian guy just never took his turn. wasn't very good for first impressions

It's something that happens at all turn based chess sites, simon. Overall though I wouldn't play against the Romanians at all though because they are there more to get a high rating than to actually enjoy the game of chess.

There's a lot of MyGaming regulars playing there. Challenge me or Fivel or ViperGTI. I've been rejecting new games these last couple of months but if you challenge me and say that you are simon (should you not be using the same nick) then I will accept the challenge.

Yotta cares a lot about the site and that already makes ChessConquest special.

Simon, not to disappoint you, but to complete a game in one sitting is rare. The cool thing about Chessconquest is that you make your move within the time limits set for the game. This works for the majority of the players registered.

I play mostly on my iPad, whenever I can, but the demands on my time do not allow me to carve out a full couple of hours to complete a game. This site really works for me. I am totally hooked and if you give it a chance I'm sure you'll be as well.

Time is quite hectic on my side too. Swamped with work and busy planning to move to GP, so everything is crazy. Will try doing some moves again next week.

Simon, if you want to play a complete game in one sitting, you should try playing a different Romanian guy. I think you just maybe had bad luck with that one, but I think some of these Romanians do this for a living. Another guy, who is also sometimes open for playing a game in one sitting is Ramsaychess or something like that... can't remember his exact name right now, but he is always game for a game.

And finally, it is possible to cheat in chess... if you're playing in person, and the other guy isn't taking notes, and you're able to successfully snag one of his pieces while he isn't looking. If the other person doesn't notice the missing piece, that would constitute a successful cheat :)

To share some stats with you guys. We did a ChessConquest player experience survey a couple of months ago to see if we are on the right track with our game play design:

70.6% of players prefer to play turn based chess (1 or 2 days per move). Only 17.6% of players are interested in Blitz Chess (10 or 20 minutes on the clock). 41.2% of players did however indicate they would like to complete games in one sitting (2 or 4 hours on the clock).

These results made us rethink our design about providing a feature where complete-in-one-sitting games can become a reality on the website, for players wanting to play such games.

I sound a bit like a parrot, but version 2 will improve things a lot. If we could now just somehow find a way to clone developers to increase the development speed :p

Lol... that actually happened to me in the past while playing FTF (face-to-face) games with friends...
