Is anyone experiencing a rash of challenges by Romanian players? Their names all end in a 2 digit number.

Thanks Yotta, it was last night - I was also getting errors when trying to view players profiles.

Don't you find it strange that that all use the same naming convention?
 
Fivel: "naming convention"???? If you are not a programmer I am a Brazilian barber in Blackpool.

But seriously, I have noticed that chessconquest often goes down close to midnight for a few minutes. It does not faze me because I wait a few minutes and then everything works as usual. No problem.
 
What an amazing coincidence! Three of Fivel's Romanians popped up on the top of the rankings today, all at the same time. Not only that, they have won just about all their games on timeouts - all within the last few days.

The coincidences get even more amazing: A fourth Romanian popped up in a miserable eighth place, also with a heap of timeouts under his/her belt. And the wins were against pretty much the same players. For example, I notice that ronicu was playing 1n 14(!) games against nileshn44, 10 games against smartmove and six against checkmate. tica played 6 games against nileshn, 4 against checkmate and seven against smartmove. There are other opponents that are shared too.

And now for the absolute clincher: these 4 registered right after one another: they are players 3810, 3811, 3812 and 3813.

What on earth is going on here?

Perhaps, in an effort to train these Romanians better, can we get a "Reason for Rejection"? A combobox with things like "Timebank too short", "Time to move too short", "Too many games in progress", etc.

There is a lot of things I find odd about the Romanian players... at this point I just suggest that players delete games when they don't want to play 1 day 0 timebank games or do not want to play more than one game at a time against the same player.

It is indeed strange, but cannot be penalized. It could for example have been a chess club where some of the players signed up at the same time during one of their sessions.

Hey ViperGTI. We are currently investing most of our resources into getting the next version ready.

Once the new version is launched we'll be in a much better position to start working on the finer details of the system such as the good idea to provide rejection reasons for games.

Will make sure to add your request to our development list.
 
I tested a personal theory tonight, sent challenges to 3 of the 'new' Romanians who top the rankings by virtue of mostly timeout wins. Used the default time settings and none of them accepted - I wonder why that is :p

Following Fivel's experiment, I thought that maybe these folks wanted to try some opposition close to their ratings, so I challenged each of their top four last night. They all declined. In their defence, between them they do have 77 games going.

So I had a bit of time to check out their playing styles. It is amazing how similar they are. For example, they all like the Bishop's Opening, they all like to play a4, they all like to swap the King's Bishop for a Knight on g1 or g8... If ever there was evidence for the existence of identical quadruplets, this is it.

Given all the other similarities, I wonder whether they are all one (hyperactive) person.

Still, it would be nice to have a duel (or four) with these distinguished newcomers.

Aha, so you are saying they dont think I'm good enough.....well the difference in our ratings does support that.....but then I wonder why I am then good enough when they challenge on their terms?
