Hi guys,

Allow me the opportunity to introduce to you Chivalry: Medieval Warfare (CMW). The game started out as a Kickstarter project and was released on 16 October last month. It's made by the same people that made Age of Chivalry (the old HL2 mod).

For those of you that don't know what CMW is all about, here's a description for you (taken from it's Steam store page):

Besiege castles and raid villages in Chivalry: Medieval Warfare, a fast-paced medieval FPS (Slasher with a Multi-player online focus)

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a first-person slasher with a focus on multi-player. Featuring competitive online combat that seeks to capture the experience of truly being on a medieval battlefield. Inspired from the intensity and epicness of swordfighting movies such as 300, Gladiator and Braveheart, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare aims to bring that experience to the hands of a gamer.

The game is skill-based and controls like a FPS, but instead of guns and grenades, players are given swords, shields, maces, battleaxes and longbows. Set in a fictional, yet gritty and realistic world, players will fight in fast paced online battles besieging castles, raiding medieval villages and fighting for glory in the arena with up to 32 players.

Key Features:

- Deep melee combat system provides players with a huge range of responsive combat options
- Adjust your attacks and blocks in real time with the mouse for precise and full control of the action
- Wield an arsenal of up to 60 brutal weapons ranging from broad swords and battle axes to longbows and javelins
- Dynamic objective system brings team tactics and strategy to the forefront as players batter down gates, raid
villages and assassinate enemy royalty to achieve victory.
- Use a variety of siege weapons ranging from catapults, boiling oil, ballista, battering rams and more
- Vast, lush environments that transport the player to a gritty and immersive medieval world.
- Offline play options that allow players to gain familiarity with the controls and gameplay before being thrust into the action.

In addition to the description, game modes include the following:

- Free For All
- Team Deathmatch
- Last Team Standing (epic fun, especially on the gladiator arena map)
- Team Objective (like Assault mode was with Unreal Tournament - good fun as well)
- King of the Hill (teams fight over a platform and gain points by seeing who can hold it the longest)

Now you might wonder, or ask yourself the question, are there servers for CMW in South Africa to justify the purchase of a multiplayer only title?

I'm happy to say that I'm currently hosting local dedicated servers for CMW. These servers aren't hosted on my ADSL line, they are hosted in a datacenter, meaning low pings for everyone :)

I'm currently hosting two servers:

a) StoneCold's FFA & LTS Arena 24/7 |ZA|
b) StoneCold's Co-Op Chivalry Server |ZA| (this server has bots enabled if the other one has no one online)

I've also setup a Steam group page: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/cmwsa which boasts 20 members already. Last night for the first time we had about 12 local people online for some Team Objective and it was a blast.

The game was released on 16 October and it still features in the top 10 best sellers list on Steam (currently nr. 6) so it's very popular around the globe. It costs $24.99 , but a 4 pack deal is also available at $74.99, meaning that you'll pay plus minus R165 for each 4 pack copy vs R220 if you were to buy it separately.

If anyone here has the game, or are interested in buying but held off due to no local servers, please buy it, show your support for the developers and join in the action on my servers. In the next two weeks new maps, modes and weapons will be released free of charge (plus some additional surprises), so that's even more of an incentive to buy it.

If you already own the game, please join the Steam group, and join us ! My ultimate dream is to have a full server of 32 South African players, chopping each other into pieces and having good sword battles :D

Lastly, to showcase some gameplay (and to wet your appetite) have a look at the release trailer below. If you want a game where you can take your frustrations out on people, then look no further. Chopping of heads, arms and legs have never been so much FUN ! ;)

The current price (according to the exchange rate) is R215. You can't buy it offline unfortunately only via Steam. If you don't like credit card, why not use paypal or https://new.easypay.co.za/Home.aspx?REDIout=1 :)

PS: A four pack deal is even cheaper, will cost you R162 per game then. I'm pretty sure you have 3 clan mates that would also be interested ;)

Sounds good, join the Steam group once you have purchased the game, you'll find all the info there as well. We have 26 people in the group, 3 new people joined today :)

Yes, I have 28 people in my Chivalry South Africa group (I posted the link in my original post). Since the game went on sale, my server's seams have been bursting, I saw more SA players, but the majority are internationals. The past 3 hours the server has been full to the brim and it's been a blast hacking and slashing all the way. :)

I've already played this game 70 hours, believe me, it's good fun, just a pity that not a lot of SA players want to give the game a chance. At the current -50% off sale price, the 4 pack comes in at $37.49, it's basically $9 per person, if you can get 3 friends to join in. The game is good fun, don't be fooled and think it's pointless. If you want to experience awesome fun, I have 2 local dedicated servers running, buy the game, you won't regret it at it's current price! ;)

I suppose the -50% discount will end tonight or tomorrow at some stage, so if you're still doubting whether you should buy it or not ? BUY IT!, you won't regret it ! :D
 
Okay guys... So I wanted to buy it... And for some reason I bought war of the roses? So now I'm sitting with a bought third person hack and slash medieval game... I'll probably buy it in the X-mas sale ( I'm guessing there will be one)

It's on sale right now... Or it was when I bought it yesterday
 
The tutorial is broken though. In advanced combat training you can't do one of the moves, it doesn't progress.
