While the full game will ship on the retail disc , you won’t be able to actually play it unless you log into Steam and download part of the game from online servers.

Yes, the game will become part of your steam library as it uses steam for initial activation and subsequent patches.

You can add any game that you install on your pc to your Steam game library if it doesn't

yeah i know, but i just want to install it and put the CD away. If i uninstall it one day i don't want to have to dig out the CD to reinstall it

You can make an ISO and use it with Cyberlink virtual drive then you don't need a physical cd.
