CNA Online - Specials, Promotions, Support

I really cant believe [MENTION=10397]CNA Online[/MENTION]. After 2 weeks of waiting for my xbox one... they phone me to tell me they have no stock and cannot source a 1tb for me. Like really now.
I am beyond pissed and doubt i will ever order from him/them again.
That's 100 % totally unacceptable. You cannot run a special, promote it to people all over the place, get them all hyped and excited (not to mention all their children, nieces and nephews, and family and friends that you've got caught up in your excitement), accept their order and payment for the offer you made, and then just flatly fail to deliver on products ordered.

Besides all the advertising standards and false advertising issues, the consumer protection issues, and the potential damage to the company's reputation with doing that, it's just an insanely shitty thing to do.

Did they not even make an effort to offer you some sort of alternative solution? A 500GB console with an extra game or controller thrown in to make up for it? Anything more than just a "no stock, sorry for you, bye"?

My order was made and accepted within 15 minutes of that special going live (my order confirmation email is time-stamped 12:15AM). I must have been among the first to order it. When I did, there was no indication anywhere that there was limited quantities of the console available. If there had been, and I'd received a "sorry, you're too late, you missed out" message, no worries. My bad luck, it happens. But my order was accepted. My account still shows the order at "Pick" status. I haven't received any call, mail, message about it since late last week when [MENTION=10397]CNA Online[/MENTION] confirmed it was being attended to in this thread.

If I do get such a call you can be sure that the unlucky member of staff that has to make it will be the unfortunate recipient of a very Grumpy Greg. And that's not something anyone wants to experience. I shall also immediately close my Edcon account (something I've had for over 25 years!) and will no longer spend a cent in any Edcon related business ever again. I will also make it my personal mission to let as many people as I know about this debacle.
[MENTION=10397]CNA Online[/MENTION] has been noticeably absent from this thread since early Wednesday morning when we were told "I realize that some of you are still waiting on your deliveries. I am chasing up on all of them now and will provide feedback soon." Soon has come and gone already.

Sorry, I’ve been off sick since Wednesday and can clearly see that delegating this problem to others in my absence has really not helped anyone.

With regards to the XB1 console issue, all affected customers should have been contacted by now, but judging from this thread, that has not happened. So here I am, on a Saturday morning, barely out of my Benylin induced coma, trying to rectify the absolute s*#t storm that has since ensued.

So yes, we over sold on the 1TB XB1 bundle that was on special, a complete system error on our side. We have tried everything in our power to source more but there are no more 1TB consoles available in the country (with the next shipment only coming in next year).

We have however managed to secure a few 500GB options for those customers to choose from:

500GB XB1 console + Forza 6 (Value: R5999)
500GB XB1 console + Fifa 16 (Value: R5999)
500GB XB1 console + Gears Of War Ultimate Edition (Value R5500)

Any of one these options can be chosen by those customers at the same price they paid for the console on special.

I am really sorry about the non-communication from the team regarding this, I do admit that it could have been dealt with in a much better way than it was.

Please feel free to comment or DM me (however harsh it may get) and I will personally get things sorted for you.

Sorry to have dragged you out in a drug -induced haze on a Saturday. Was just a little peeved when I saw that post from [MENTION=21785]Ikraam_Samsodien[/MENTION] (PING!) Having dealt with you directly in the past, I had a feeling you hadn't been involved in his situation, else I'm sure it would have been handled a lot better. You clearly didn't whip the elves properly before slinking off to your sick bed. Don't know if you're able to reach him directly, but maybe a message to him would help relieve some of his justified unhappiness?

I will PM you in a few minutes with my decision.

Thanks GregRedd. My whipping skills are not up to par unfortunately but lets see if my hazed optimism can help sort all this out.

I am currently PMing with him to try and rectify this and will for anyone else that had the same experience.

I wasn't there myself but lucky Mrs Redd was. She says the DW driver was (in her words) "piss drunk, stank like a pig, and clearly shouldn't be driving a vehicle right now". Then she sent me pics of the parcel:

CNA online has been a disappointment all the way through. I would never do business with them again. No matter how good the specials are. All this hassle and trouble was not worth it.
 
Wow! I hope that XBox One still works! That box is in a shocking state.
Fortunately the inner package was well wrapped and the console itself is pretty well packaged in its box. No obvious damage to the console, started up fine, network found and 50% through initial update. Hopefully no issues further along.

To be fair, I hold Dawn Wing responsible for the condition and delay with the package. CNA Online seriously need to sort their courier of choice out.

I share your disappointment with not getting what I had initially ordered on the special. I won't complain too much about it though - I resigned myself to actually having to cancel the whole order and chalk it up to a missed opportunity. I landed up with a 500GB XB1 console and a copy of Forza 6 for R4800. Still the best deal I've seen anywhere.

I think the biggest fault in the way CNA Online ran the promotion was not having a way to control the number of orders that were made, or the quantity ordered. No "only 10 in stock" and no "limited to 1 per customer" mechanism built into an online only promo is just asking for kak. That first 1TB offer was so good I wouldn't be surprised if there were "dealers" who ordered 10 or more units and are right now reselling them for a tidy profit.

Putting a "1 per customer" tag on things is useless if the shopping cart system is not setup to ensure these things are properly controlled. And you can't run an online-only sale if your online control and order processing system is not much more than a fairly stock off-the-shelf plugin.

To be clear, there is a lot to be upset about with how CNA Online (the organization) handled this. They need to work on their internal communication between marketing, online sales, warehousing and distribution. And they need to involve their CS staff in the process from the start. Oh, and they need to get a new courier service contracted.

The [MENTION=10397]CNA Online[/MENTION] person who is their virtual front-facing rep here on the other hand, deserves a raise and a promotion. Throughout this saga she has had to bear the brunt of a lot of unhappiness on behalf of the company. In all my dealings with her she has remained calm, polite, genuinely apologetic, and sincere in her efforts to get me sorted out.
