COD:BO on Local Bandwidth

Don't think so since you have to connect to the Black Ops server to get your profile. I would have said to try and use Route Sentry but I think the game needs to be constantly connected to the Blops server to keep track of challenges and such.

Hey Guys, I was wondering if it is posible to play BlackOps on Local Bandwidth?

I use Route Sentry. So yes you can. If you're up for setting it up, then that's how you're going to do it.

I guess RouteSentry works because even though the Steam servers need to authenticate you (international bandwidth) mweb host the servers to play locally. So if you split the traffic it uses international to verify you and update your stats and local to play on mwebs servers. Although I guess Telkom Local doesn't count anymore :p

Interesting, I would not have thought this was possible for the reason Toxin mentions.

You will still use International cap but it will be much less since the connection is local and most playing bandwidth would go trough the local.

Not too sure about the theater mode since that can eat up cap like nothing else.

Yes you're still going to use some international bandwidth, but very little. If you're just playing the game it shouldn't be much at all. Just get a cheap Afrihost unshaped account, 1GB or so and use that. It will cost you like R39 or something. I use Route Sentry to play most of the online games I play with Telkom local bandwidth. Saves me a lot of bucks :D

You could try using IS local...it leaks a bit of intl cap so that games can authenticate...its hit & miss though.

Routesentry is outdated btw. Grab Pada's app of the MyBB forum...thread called "testbunnies for my app" or something like that.

Pada's app is called Traffic Splitter BTW.

Those 30GB local IS accounts were great. As long as you didn't disconnect it stayed as int bandwidth.

Well why not just get mweb uncapped. So much better and less effort. Don't know why you people are making life so difficult. I was running mweb uncapped shaped 4mb and black ops worked fine. always ping of 28 and lower ping and never higher as 50.

I can play any local hosted game with now issues during the day. BTW now I'm running a 4mb unshaped business account.

It's not difficult at all. I'm happy with traffic splitting, plus it saves me a few hundred rands per month.
