COD4 and Win 8

Anyone here running Win 8 and COD 4 will know that there was a problem with getting PB to work with Win 8.

When you get your iwmp3.exe to not fail PB kick you in 2 min for losing packets.

According to my mate lemming this is now solved with a new PB update. Just thought you all should know. I will give it a try tonight as I was not able to play on any PB servers since installing Win 8 and trying multiple fixes on the net did not work.

Will feedback tomorrow. If there is still an issue the only way to get it to work is a dual boot with Win 7. this I am not going to do!
My specs: Win 8 - on 128 gb ssd, 2600k @ 4.4mHz, GTX 680 and 16 gb Vengeance Ram
 
The error was not a PB kick but actually iw3mp.exe cashing which was caused by pbcl.dll. If the issue you have is a kick try updating and re-installing the PB service.

The latest COD4 PB update has apparently resolved the issue in Win8 caused by the crash but I am getting this as third hand information so I can not confirm. Looking forward to hearing back from your tests.
 
Glad to hear it.

PB is a wildcard though. Sometimes it just doesn't work even after reinstall, update, service reinstall, FW unblock and human sacrifice etc.

Ye the latest update apparently is fixing this(also 3rd hand info), I unfortunately did not have time to test this last night as I was playing an extended Dota 2 session with Saint Dee. The games was just superlong and did not end well so I went straight to bed...

Will test after i reinstall pb and post here.
 
I tested this again last night uninstall and re-install pb with the supposed new update, I am still getting kicked for losing key packets.....
 
Just an update.

Call of Duty 4 does work with Windows 8 if it is correctly updated an running :) Running perfectly my side.
 
Mine also worked 100%. Installed game, installed patches 1.4 and up. Installed PBSetup, selected cod4. Got the needed pb updates, ran the game and joined the iGame Alpha server for a bit testing the waters. Then joined up with the Soul Slayer guys on their server and played for about two hours.

Before the update it did not work in compatibilituy mode and you had to alt tab out of the game to get the mouse to work.

Clean reinstall of COD4 with patches and newest PB works well problem is sorted.
