Comic Books

Anyone here collect the limited edition statues of comic characters? Think it can be interesting seeing what everyone has.

Secret invasion

The secret invasion story wise quite cool and interesting and loved the tie in to the marvel space characters e.g. inhumans. Havent read the planet hulk and world war hulk comics but am keen to get into it soon.

Am currently deep into the dark reign comics and war of kings / realm of kings series.

also if money is keeping you away from comics, checkout the Cape Town City Central library as they have stunning graphic novels e.g.

anita blake - animator (3 graphic novels)
all the neil gaiman sandman graphic novels
3 gunslinger graphic novels
Buffy novels
30 days 30 nights ( a series of 10)
also manga - bleach, Dragonball and naruto, some Chobits etc.

Pretty cool and amazing

there is also some single story arc graphic novels e.g.
wolverine origins
marvel 1602 etc

Gr8 reads and no cost to you other than the trip to the library and prayer that something is available!

happi readin

Big batman fan. (cliche)
The comics are awsome, currently reading "The Killing Joke". You can guess the antagonist of this particular book!

Do they still publish Archie comics or is it mostly old stuff you are reading?
And Asterix, you book it out of the Library or actually bought it?

I thought both of these have been retired a long time ago.

They still do overseas, apparently archie just amrried veronica now recently. Dying to start reading them again got them on the pc :D

Latest Blackest night is out, issue # 5. Awesome. Get it. Now. And for those who like collecting stuff, when buying various issues to do with Blackest Night at Cosmic Comics, you get a colour ring matched with that comic. There are seven of them, I've got 5 of them so far.

Josh Brolin talks "Jonah Hex" on The Tonight Show. Joe Quesada has seen "Iron Man 2." Episodes titles for the rest of "Heroes" season four. "Tron Legacy" photos and a "John Carter" casting sheet.

Anybody here read the Kick-Ass title? Latest one is out now and it's freaking hilarious. Also, latest Blackest Night is out, issue # 6. Marvel's "siege" is always looking good.

I've still got a lot of my childhood comics like Richie Rich, Little: Lotta, Dot, Audrey, Casper, Spooky, Hot Stuff, Baby Huey,Wendy the Good Little Witch, Tom & Jerry, Bugs Bunny, stacks of Archie comics and digests (have you seen the prices of these lately-crikey!).

My mom used to buy me a couple at the chemist or cafe whenever I was sick as a child. GOOD TIMES!

When the colony planet Ariel sends out a mysterious distress signal, it’s up to the UNSC’s elite, highly skilled special-ops Marines, the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers from the 105th, to find out what’s happening. Also known as ODSTs or “Helljumpers”, these soldiers are some of the toughest in the galaxy…and some of the roughest as well. When the distress signal comes, two Helljumpers will find themselves at the center of the mystery on Ariel, and before it’s solved, they’ll have to put their friendship and their lives on the line…

I just finished reading the first two volumes of Halo: Helljumper and so far I am very impressed with Peter David (Writer). Eric Nguyen (Artist) and Marvels work on this series. It seems to be a 5 volume series so I will be getting the other 3 volumes as they are released. The series seems to be a prequel to Halo 3: ODST and follows the adventures of Dutch and Romeo on planet Ariel, as they try to figure out what the Covenant want. It also briefly explains how Dutch met Gretchen later falling in love with her and getting married and how they got separated during the war.

I've got a fair amount of Batman, Superman etc. I started collecting some graphic novels which was cool - really enjoyed Batman/Superman Public Enemies - that was epic :). I also have Fleer-Ultra '95 Marvel Spierman cards from my old school days - so awesome :)

Long-time collector here (from primary school until after varsity).

These days I tend to stick to graphic novels too (or 'trade paperbacks' if you prefer). Huge fan of Warren Ellis's writing and Alex Ross's artwork

I also have the Fleer-Ultra '95 Set, think I need like 5 or 7 to have a complete set :( If you liked the Batman/Superman Public enemies paperback, the movie is also now out. Differs a bit here and there from the novel, but still quite enjoyable.
