Comic Books

Well I just said, been reading the Walking Dead comics via cbr  and it's always been brilliant...

otherwise, no not really, I'm more into book books hehe.

I once got slapped in the face by the head of the Stellenbosch Anime Society when I went "ooh you read kiddies tales" in an enthusiastic manner...I'm sure I lose points for that, but at least I'm honest about it! :D

Ja, people get antsy when you call it 'kiddies tales'. Although, I'll give their children some 'kiddies tales' that'll scar them for life :D

How far are you into The Walking Dead? I LOVE the comic series! Its so Epic!

@TheAvenged87 - Im on about chapter 5 or 6 of the messiah complex, and holy sheeet... Its awesome... Yes i finally got through dark phoenix :D Was also a great read...

Glad you got through it. Essential reading right there.

Messiah Complex was amazing, I loved that book.

I stopped for quite some time after 125, but started up again last week when I remembered about it hehe.. after some catch-up reading (tons of new characters I had to re-familiarize myself with) I'm now on I think 127 :)

I realised I've been neglecting this thread. Sorry guys!

I'm glad Dee got into Saga. It's a great read, you won't be sorry. And Mottomort, I have only read the first couple of Walking Dead books, but I can safely say that it's awesome (I also finished the Telltale game on Sunday and Wow, what a game).

I haven't read much lately, it's been a bit busy, but I got V for Vendetta for my birthday and I also got hold of a copy of Maus. Gonna comic again soon :)

I have read about the first two trades of the Walking Dead. I'll make a point of reading more of it next year.

I desperately want to read Maus.

Got my attention that's for sure (so much wtf in the 1st page :wtf::D), this is definitely unlike anything I've read before.

Jeez that sounds awesome. Have you seen Hot Toys? They are the most advanced figures that I've seen in ages! Shit the Stan Lee thing is more something that I'd want, but all of those are pretty cool.

Jeff Smith's Bone is one of my favorites. The story begins when the Bone cousins are thrown out of Boneville. From there they are caught up in events that lead them from their humble beginnings into a fight against the Lord of Locusts, an overwhelming evil.

Jeff Lemire's Essex County is also pretty good. An honest, real world drama about a small Canadian community and the families that inhabit it, it has something for everyone - stories of sibling rivalry, father issues, lost loves and compassion.

I've always wanted to read Bone. My brother raves about it.

I've never read Essex County, but I have read The Underwater Welder by Jeff Lemire. It's a surreal story about an undersea rig-welder (surprise!) who is forced to come to terms with the his broken personal past that is affecting his relationship with his wife and baby. Quite heavy, but an excellent read in comic book format.

I felt my Lemire-sense tingling. I love Lemire's books. I've read Essex County, Underwater Welder, Lost Dogs, his run on Green Arrow, his run on Animal Man and I have the floppies of Trillium, which I'll read this month.

Welcome to the thread, Walter_Bettencourt!

So the Suicide Squad Movie has been confirmed and the lineup looks great

I saw that...great characters and great actors...but I'll need some convincing. I love Deadshot as a character, so it is tough imagining Will Smith playing him. Nothing he has done before even remotely resembles Floyd Lawton.

Then Margot Robbie. She's hot, but can she be crazy?

I know Leto can be crazy and he's a fantastic actor, but he has some big shoes to fill.

I'll probably end up loving this movie.

I suppose I'll have to give this movie a chance. I think that the choices for the characters might actually be right except for

Tom Hardy as Rick Flag

He's Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnneeeee

He can't be Rick Flag now. Nah. JK. Maybe he can be considering it's a different universe. The Nolan Batman films will always be the best to me.

And I can't let my hatred for 30 seconds to Mars affect my opinion of Leto's acting. He was excellent in Reqiuem for a Dream. With a good script and a good director, I think this could be quite an awesome film.

Ok... @TheAvenged87... Thank you... Just finished reading the messiah complex and holy shit balls it was incredible! I am now 6% into the second coming... The art is incredible, and the story line... just wow...

Iv done a bit of research and it seems the Messiah series is a trilogy, and iv missed the middle, messiah war? Did you know about this? and is it worth picking up if did?

By the way hows that Comic Course you guys started going?

Rick Flagg is a strange choice for Hardy, though. Old military general that gets mutated into a boar-like creature with massive teeth. Great actor, I'm sure he'll figure something out.

I wonder who will play the Wall. You can't mess that up, or I'm out. The most crucial SS member.

Then, I see no Captain Boomerang. He needs to be there.
