Sin City vol 4: That Yellow Bastard - In preparation for the the new movie :D

Something that I want to start reading that's just sitting on my tablet waiting to be read is East of West. Apparently it's pretty good.

Stag bud the Sin City Comics/Graphic Novels (depending on whether or not you admit to being addicted to comic books, aka Nem) are absolutely BRILLIANT! I cant wait for that new movie! The trailer looks like moving pages of the comics! I loved the first movie... Never realized how intertwined the stories were till i got through the comics...

I love the comics, they are some of the best comic books I have ever read. Few things can compare with their quality. It's in my top five of all time series.

I can't wait for the Sin City movie. Looks amazing.

Where's Venom and the rest of the comic book thread posters? Do I need to drag them in there?

Do yourself a favour and get in there. I love Hickman and Dragota's team-up on this book.

Never even heard of East of West... Whats it about?

Sci-Fi/Western featuring the four horseman of the apocalypse as main characters. Amazing book with spectacular art. One of the best books that image is putting out right now, was my pick for non-big-2 book of the year in 2013.

noob question again :D

anybody know where in the CT area you can have comics graded?

I have a bunch of 1st and 0 editions and it seems they're not worth much if they haven't been graded :(

I encourage comic noobing!
Do Reader's Den not have a sending-away-for-grading service? All comics get graded overseas and they slab them in plastic, costs some money to do it. Like R350 per book. Otherwise, I can try to help you out from GP.

I started reading Saga last night.

Friggin awesome! I'm going to have to buy the non-humble bundle volumes now too :D

Welcome to the Dark Side.

I love me some Saga. I bought volume three about a month ago, haven't dived in yet.

In other news, I'm importing Wolverine and the X-Men #39 from TFAW. No one in this country stocks the floppy of that book and it is the only one I need to complete my run of that series.

Expensive?

My brother was missing Vol 4 of 6 of the Preacher collection. It went out of print in the time that he was buying the hardcovers. He had to get the final volume from a private seller in the US. That one volume cost him more than the other 5 together. Ouch.

eish! that's a lot of cash to spend on something that might turn out to be worthless :(

Probably a chance you take, but otherwise, if you can get your hands on some comics that are worth a bit, it can be worthwhile. Sadly here in SA probably only a handful of serious collectors will pay market related prices if you were to sell them later on. Most other people won't buy a R1000 comic as in their minds it is not worth it. I've seen a few CGC'd comics floating around the forums (Carb and SAGamer), but almost always selling for less than the guy paid for it.

Not really. The books are discounted, but shipping is a little expensive. It costs like $8 to ship per pound from TFAW to SA, so a friend of mine also got a Punisher trade that he doesn't have and we just split the shipping. They carry like a year's worth of back issues, so I'll look into that for some issues that I'm missing.

No basically, cheaper books that gets even'd out with the shipping price...but they have a greater selection than our local guys.

DON'T STOP BUYING FROM THE LOCAL GUYS THOUGH, ONLY USE THIS AS BACKUP.

Yeah, I've seen those. I'm sitting on books that have nice big prices associated with them when they're slabbed, but I won't be able to get that type of money for them. Also, I don't really liked slabbed books...I want those bad boys to breathe :D

Got some feedback on books I've read:

Finished Saga vol 1. - Loved it, going on to volume 2 soon
Finished East of West vol 1 - I was disappointed. It wasn't what I expected. Stolen ideas, and forced to the point of ruining what I assume they were trying to accomplish.
Finished Revival vol 1- Holy Shit. This is one of the best things I've read all year. Going to buy ALL THE THINGS
Started Lazarus - No opinion to give yet.

Jeez bru, what a collection of books you have there. Did you get them from that Image sale a while back? Glad you're dipping into Saga and Revival, I love those books.

Anyway, I'm busy reading High Crimes from Monkeybrain comics. Spy thriller on Mount Everest. Clever writing with AMAZING artwork. $.99c an issue and they're at 7/12 right now. Monkeybrain is steadily becoming one of my favourite publishers with books like this, Bandette and D4VE.

Humble Image Comics Bundle FTW :D I'm really enjoying the quality that Image is putting out lately.

I'll have a look into Monkeybrain, I have heard of their stuff, but I haven't read anything that you listed.

Image have really great books.

Some others that are pretty cool:

Deadly Class
Pretty Deadly
Nailbiter
Rat Queens
Peter Panzerfaust

Those should keep you busy for a while. I'm down to only one Big 2 book and that's Batman.
