So we can comment here to our hearts content :D :p ;)

Seems to me to vote is down to phew phew VS swish swish

Well, I can't vote for a game I haven't played (Skyrim). Have to be honest here, right. It does look brilliant though.

If you think about the games that were released this year it was actually quite a hard choice in the beginning.
I thought about it for quite some time, didn't just vote to win.

Gears of War 3 would have been a worthy choice but then again so would Uncharted 3, both only let down by one thing..They are exclusives...As far as I am concerned an exclusive title can't ever win game of the year.

Then there was the almighty BF3, Incredibly beautiful graphics, well thought out multiplayer..and that's where it ended....Pretty shit single player campaign, The game is bug ridden, massive patches with issues downloading and updating, origin and yes I know you can't take Origin into account but if you think about it, it plays an essential part...You have to use it to play the game lol. Then there is EA...Well now referred to as Satan. With there insane banning of players for idiotic little things.

The Witcher 2...Well as close to perfection as possible..The graphics..The quest line..Almost no bugs ( seeing as witcher 1 was bug ridden) I loved every second of the game..Played through it twice..and that was ultimately the little issue I had..After the 2nd run through I..I tried again and just couldn't get myself to enjoy it...So the replay value wasn't great.

The most anticipated racing game of 2011...Forza 4..Incredibly beautiful graphics..Fantastic game modes..insane selection of cars (500+) Multiplayer is intoxicating..spent hours jamming it with mates...The lvl of detail when specking up a car..It is pure bliss..but ultimately its still just a racing game.

Then along came Skyrim, The graphics not that great, the battle style..we've seen it before..the UI which can be annoying...I wasn't to pleased when I started the game for the 1st time..but then I fell in love with it..the sheer scale of the world...the hours and hours spent exploring and discovering hidden caves/towers/enemy camps..The insane amount of quests/side quests..the huge amount of fun hunting Trolls, fighting insane dragons, being launched into the air by a giant...It is just FUCKING awesome!!
Crafting you're own gear, enchanting weapons and armor, turning yourself into a one man army..whether it be a stealth assassin...or a dual wielding orc smashing enemies to pieces and causing carnage where ever you roam.
Yeah there are bugs..but you just don't care about them.

The game does what games are supposed to do..it puts a huge smile on you're face as soon as you start it up and you enjoy ever second of it..even feeling sad when you have to log off..knowing you can only play again after work..LOL :D

So yeah you guessed it...My game of the year for 2011 is Skyrim.

I used to play other games in my spare time, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

I dont really agree with the fact a game of the year cant be a exclusive.

It doesnt matter who gets to play the game and who does'nt, as long as the game itself is brilliant and worthy to be the best game for the year it shoeld'nt matter. We should just imagine the game was released on all platforms and not let the fact that it was not take away from the exellent gameplay, graphics and so on.

My 2 cents ;-)

Some tough choices there for me; I've enjoyed each of the games on the list. It's almost like we could stop there and say those are the best 5 games of the year; but there can be only one!

I'm leaning heavily toward Batman though...

Voted for Skyrim since Uncharted 3 and Witcher 2 didn't make it as nominees. Still think Uncharted 3 should be there. It's definitely my GOTY.

My preferred vote would have been Witcher 2, but seeing skyrim there... Well that is one hell of a game. We should do indie vote too as Limbo was really really great :)

I voted Skyrim because it deserves to win. :p

Actually I would have wanted Minecraft to win but I guess that option is out now.

It seems that's there's going to be a clear winner there...:) I swear theres goin to be like a page of " the elder scrolls: Skyrim"

It got my vote too...:) I love that game.. Invested about 164 hours into that game...:)

Witcher 2 would have been my vote.

Portal 2 would have been had it been a "Multiplayer game of the year" award... that was fun.

Can't vote for Skyrim as I haven't bought the game yet so I had to go with Batman... although, I would have probably gone for it anyway. I think it just got everything right (except for the GFWL part of course)

Well for me it was kind of an easy choice, what game will be keeping me the busiest while still enjoying the game?
Hours played:
BF3 - 110
Skyrim - 22

Although Skyrim is a great game I just can't get myself to play for longer than 90min max then I feel like I have to play BF3 again. I'm still only level 20 in Skyrim so there is still a lot to do and the game will keep me busy for some hours to come but the initial impression of BF3 was so much better than Skyrim (bad graphics, laggy mouse...), yes it's all things that can be fixed. Lets just say my first five hours was better with BF than Skyrim.

So far it seems as if Skyrim is going to win with a landslide victory. Glad to see it's putting BF3 in its place. While BF3 might be a good game, it's still just an FPS. :P

Did a tally of the votes so far. Might not be 100% accurate, so it might be off by one or two, more or less, but it should give a general indication. I also counted those that had under 20 posts, so unless they post more before wednesday, it might still change.

Skyrim: 46 votes
BF3: 25
Batman Arkham City: 5
Portal 2: 5
Deus Ex: Human Revolution: 2

For me it has to be between three games, Skyrim, Batman and BF3........ok make it four Uncharted 3. It is difficult to say whether the Game of the Year cannot be an exclusive as there are many exclusives that would make worthy contenders. Forza 4 also seems to be an awsome game but I don't have an Xbox so I won't know. If the game of the year HAD to be played across all platforms I think the choice would have been easier to make.

I always feel guilty when I'm playing Skyrim. I still have to clock Battlefield Bad Company 2, Mafia 2 and Forza 4. I'll never be able to do that because of Skyrim:(
