Computer monitors cost so much more than TVs: here's why

I remember paying R1800 for my 23' 6 years ago and now I don't see them for under R2200.
R2200 for a 32' Tv also about 6 years ago. And well the price have not really changed that much.

Now that you mention that.... I bought a 24" BenQ for R1800 back in 2011 Now I can not find a brother for it for under R3K As for TV, I bought a 32" TV just 2 weeks ago for R2300. Granted the TV only has 1366x768.

Anyway, what I have noticed is that a 40" 1920x1080 monitor will cost more than a 40" 1920x1080 TV. and the TV has more inputs not only DVI + HDMI. So something is not all about specs?
