Cooler Master Silent Pro M2 Power Supply - high frequency noise.

Just leaving this here. Bought three of these for various PC's, one died after a couple of starts, and two of them had serious amounts of high-frequency noise. Admittedly, I kept the one that worked and it is very quiet.

This is not a silent unit if you can hear high frequencies, in my opinion.

Won't be buying again.

For those that were wondering, the one that was basically dead on arrival got swapped out (still has some high frequency noise, bit it's better), and the other the seller wanted to send back to me, as after testing they said that it worked and that high frequency noise is not a problem in their opinion. Yes, I told them to keep it and paid in a little bit more for something else.

No, this was a 420w, 520w and 720w, respectively.

420w, high frequency noise then utter failure; a 520w, more hf noise, traded in for a different PSU; 720w, no issues yet. As the 720 is in my personal PC I hope this remains the case.

Pc shop I bought it from apparently sourced them from Frontosa (Cape Town, I'm guessing).

The 650 unit you are talking about is probably the GX 650, which is what I traded the 520w in for, and it's powering my GF's PC at the moment, no issues. At least it makes a humming sound I can get used to, vs HF noise which I detest.

Yes, I am sensitive so sound.

That's really weird...I know the lower quality M2's the 420w and 520w are really badly made psu's...they just advertise them under the same label. The 720w should be fine though as its much better build quality and much better components.

Thanks, knowing my 720w is a better build quality is giving me some peace of mind. What a way to find out about the 420/520, eh?
