CPU Upgrade, what will be the most cost effective?

Looking at upgrading my CPU. I am currently running this combo:

CPU : Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz LGA1155 Quad Core Ivy Bridge (WO_BX80637I53570K)

MB : ASRock Fatal1ty Z77 Performance LGA1155 Intel Z77 ATX Desktop (WO_MTB598)



What will be the best option here?

Any advice appreciated.

What is your logic behind this? That processor is quite sufficient for most if not all games to date!
 
Yeah you will have to state why you want to upgrade. That CPU is sufficient for most tasks, especially if you overclock it. That CPU will go to 4.5 GHz easily with a bit of after market air cooling. You wouldn't even have to tamper with the voltage settings.

If you're looking to do a lot of encoding work or video editing, then an upgrade to an i7 is perhaps worth it; if you're only looking to go from the i5 3570K to the i5 6600K for example, I would suggest you don't do it. There is no real reason to.

What are the rest of the specifications?

Perhaps you have a bottleneck somewhere else that would be worth upgrading...
 
I measured my rig against the requirements for the new Doom, and the only short fall was the CPU, only reached 95% of the requirements. My GPU is a GTX660Ti 2GB OC and I have 16GB of RAM.

Dude, I don't even have that CPU and I'm running just about everything on high or ultra! I maintain that your CPU is quite adequate.

Unless you're doing CPU intensive applications like video/photo editing I wouldn't suggest it, as [MENTION=6280]Blazzok[/MENTION] has stated.


But hey, maybe you're just looking for a reason to justify your purchase?

I just checked several sites, your cpu is a bit faster than minimum requirements...

Do you have a ssd?

Yes, I do have a SSD. Will give it a bash as it is, just reluctant to buy a game that wont run. This is the 1st new game release in years that I am actually considering purchasing.
 
Dude I have the same CPU, there has not been a game yet that made me question an upgrade. I'd rather get a faster GPU than replace your CPU. You will honestly see little to no benefit.

Agreed, suck it up and upgrade the GPU, get a 970 or something.
