Cricket Thread - not the bugs but the buggers playing it :)

It has stopped raining, but they expect more, so nobody is getting excited. The groundsmen recon there will be play in the afternoon.

Whos playing today, been too busy watching Come Dine With Me?

Proteas against WI.
Covers are off, looks like we will get some play today albeit a shortened version, unfortunately it will help WI more with it being a shorter game. I kinda hope if we don't get a minimum of close to 40 overs a side that the game is abandoned. This isn't T20

Are they still playing right now?

Still going at the moment.

SA seems to be on top. WI have 87/3 after 15 chasing 231 in 31 covers. So SA on top at the moment, but it can changer quickly with rain in the air.

Thanks been watching it quite a while now :D

West Indies so far arent doing too good they need to up their runrate if they want to catch us

Our semi final is Wednesday and it's against England. It is a game that we can win. England haven't looked convincing and even though we haven't been at our best, I think that the Proteas are improving as a team. All round the team is looking more balanced.

The bowling still has much room for improvement and needs to be more economical. Batting is almost as good as it gets. It should be a good game.

Agreed. I prefer England for the semi rather than India or even Sri Lanka. Also, unless the weather dictates otherwise, I'll definitely bat first. Hopefully they can get some pressure on the England batting in the second innings which looks to be their weak spot.

Do we usually do better if we bowl first then bat to chase down the score or do we do better if we bat first then bowl after?

That's a on-the-day thing. A lot will come down to the pitch, as some pitches are better for bowling then batting, and vice versa.

Stats will probably prove me wrong, but I feel we are a better geared team for chasing. Our bowlers aren't that strong death bowling, and in the past we've chased down any score (thinking of the 438 game...)

I have always thought we were best at chasing scores down in 5 days so should be the same in ODI's

Well, in 5 day test we decimate all that stands before us, so it really doesn't matter when we bat.

Regretfully our BMT in semis and finals aren't as consistent as our performances are in the 5 day stuff. Pity. Whilst I do not want to even think about the possibility of another choke, I do feel that the current team and mindset is quite different to other teams / matches that have gone before. Whatever happens tomorrow, I am chuffed we made the semis (regardless of the tie).

I am hoping that Steyn will be fit and raring, Lopsy will have venom in his eyes, Hash and Ingram come good with the bat and that we all get to enjoy a good game. Holding thumbs for good weather, a good pitch and a dramatic and cataclysmic collapse by the Poms.

:D

Started watching now so how did we lose a wicket so quickly?

Oh well 2 wickets gone :(
