Cricket Thread - not the bugs but the buggers playing it :)

I agree the pitch has ruined this test I was all excited but after watching the first hour I knew we are in for a rough time with the ball and then loosing Steyn was the straw that broke the camels back.

Yip, I reckon the groundskeeper should be kicked between the teeth for giving us such a poor surface.

Its a real pity, and I thought we had the fire to put this series away.

Congrats to the U19s though, great to know we have world class talent in the pipeline.

No Steyn, flat pitch, lack luster bowling...We don't have the fire power without Steyn.
Morkel looked threatening but now he has fallen asleep.

In the Aussies defence, Clark batted like such a champion... Morkel worked him over so well, and he just stuck it out and played on...

Im also really disappointed in this pitch... The whole point of playing at home is to have favourable conditions... Correct me if im wrong but the PE pitch seemed to suit us quite well...

Jip the PE pitch has always been a good one for SA to play on. And that goes to the Cape Town pitch as well. I don't know what they did with it this time, as it's just not living up to the hype. Usually the ball moves like a mosquito in the air at Cape Town, and this time it's as lazy and slow as me on a Sunday afternoon...

Well at least we lost 1 and a half sessions due to rain which was a blessing for SA.
I reckon the Aussies are gonna go after the bowling this morning, probably try to get to around 500 and then declare.

I think with this weather we could be in some serious trouble.... the overcast weather is often great for bowling.... and I wonder what the rain has done to the pitch... it could be a whole different game when they get back out there....

I have to say SA cricket you are fucking useless....Man did we play kak today.
We struggled to take wickets, they took wickets at will and just wilted...Ugh won't bother watching the rest of the game.

On a side note, what is it with Dale getting injured constantly every time he gets back into good form? Really don't understand that.

YES YES YES YES YES! Finally he retires prolly the most useless SA captain we ever had hope they call it a draw today so we can get rid of him.

I don't really understand why people don't like him. I mean, he has an amazing average and under him South Africa has reached and maintained the number 1 test position in the world. It's a shame to see him go.

I will never understand how people can think the way you do about Smith... He has the best record of any player as a captain...

Heres an article where they rank him second in the last 2 Decades behind Ponting

He is a phenomenal cricketer and his average speaks for itself... SA have achieved so much with Smith at the helm, its actually really disappointing to have people slate him after everything he's done for SA Cricket...

He was a fantastic servant to the team for the majority of his career and took on an immeasurable weight with the captaincy at 22, none of his 27 hundreds have been in a defeat and he steered SA to some magical moments (Series wins in Aus/Eng). Sure his form has been up and down but his average speaks volumes for someone with the responsibility of opening the batting and captaining the team.

Sure you may not like him or have your own opinion but credit where credit's due, SA is losing a very respected player and captain

No you should be fair in your assessment. He lead the Proteas to the series win over Australia, in Australia, one of his finest moment, as an example. You may not like him, but let's acknowledge what the team has accomplished while he was captain.

Agree with Krusy, TOM and Solitude.

Biff will be missed, but he's time has past. He was one of the best test captains we've ever had, and the Proteas have reached the top under his leadership. It is a shame that his form is not up to par currently, as I would've like him to leave on a high note.

Well there he goes... last time he will ever bat in a Test game for us !

Last year or so he lost it, but over his career he was a great Captain and Opener.

Wow...Proteas...if you decide to play kak, you play as kak as possible...

We are currently 34/3 already, and Biff is out for 3. So in his last test he only made 8 runs. Which is still 8 more than Tendulkar made in his last test outing...
