EA lashes out at PC gamers

Crytek has been alerted that an early incomplete, unfinished build of Crysis 2 has appeared on Torrent sites. Crytek and EA are deeply disappointed by the news. We encourage fans to support the game and the development team by waiting and purchasing the final, polished game on March 22. Crysis 2 is still in development and promises to be the ultimate action blockbuster as the series’ signature Nanosuit lets you be the weapon as you defend NYC from an alien invasion. Piracy continues to damage the PC packaged goods market and the PC development community.

From my trusted sources I have heard that it's an extremely linear console-port. Yes, it is just the beta for the game, but with only a month until release, it's pretty fucking close to being finished. The weapons have that MW2 style "recoil", everyone is saying the gameplay is shit, IT'S NO SURPRISE THEY DIDN'T GIVE PC PLAYERS THE DEMO. ROFL. I would have downloaded the leak myself but I was too disappointed by the first Crysis game so my bandwidth is better spent elsewhere.

true, but gone are the days when every platform just got their pre-play/teaser/demo on the same day.

now one could ask i suppose would it have made a difference if a demo for the pc was released on the same day that as the console ?

i'm getting the beta myself, it's the "haxor"/programming wanting to see if it's actual game code or just beta build release. still i'd be getting the final, no way i'd miss out legally on one of my favorite action shooters. ( now i guess i've earn a bit of smiting there )

still i'd wonder how this is going to change things thinking back to the half life 2 leak which was also interesting to prod at...

If it truly has been consolised to the degree that is being claimed then they lose my purchase. The whole reason I loved Crysis was the sanbox nature of the level design. Very sad if true.

You don't have to tell me that. I know Crysis was linear. I wish it wasn't, I wish there was a way to get around the terrible tank driving and VTOL flying parts, but there's not. Truth is, for someone to explicitly say that Crysis 2 is very linear probably means that it's as linear or even more linear than Crysis 1. The fact that Crysis is linear is a given.

Now that's a tough one. Would you like a packaged demo or a beta of the full game? I might actually take the demo if I had to choose. I think a lot of these people are downloading the beta just to see if they would actually buy the full game. Or pirate the full game...

Either way, my opinion of Crysis isn't very high. To me it's just an over-elaborate interactive benchmarking tool. I need more gameplay in my game play.

when read the tank part, i just lol'ed and thought about that most wonderful parts . half life 2 was linear, but still a very good game for it's time. some folks just can't handle proper open ended game and that's why i would guess most companies bet on linear vs total sandboxie.

...or to see of your pc could run it. one thing about ID, they use to have a tech demo where you could at least see if your pc would run it. nowadays some at least release a benchmark tool or maybe a demo if you are lucky.

i still would think that the demo at the right time would have avoided the leak or at least damper it if it still happened. i personally don't have too much sympathy for those who can't keep their IP indoors. blizzard had now done this for how many years successfully ?

Agreed. It's all about the money for Crytek now. They can keep their mass produced dumbed down games for console kiddies.....
