Ironically, Crysis 2 for PC will ship without DX 10 or DX 11 support, harking back to the relatively archaic DX 9 API. DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 support is expected to be patched in retroactively over the coming weeks.

Can anyone say console port? This merely just proves that almost any PC that was built before 1923 (sarcasm) will be able to play this. Eish.

This game may look and play best on PC, but the cross-platform development has definitely had an impact. Specifically, it’s disappointing to see that Crysis 2 makes some absolutely baffling technical omissions. The graphics settings menu offers just four areas to adjust: resolution, v-sync, HUD bobbing, and one of three pre-defined quality settings. Why can’t I pick what level of anti-aliasing or shadow quality I want in PC gaming’s most beautiful game? Quick-saving, too, is replaced by checkpoint autosaves; a developer console was also nowhere to be found.

Nope, uses some proprietary binary format even though they have .xml suffixes. Been playing my Steam copy on US VPN. Apparently there is a day 1 patch that's supposed to auto download, which re-enables the console, but it's not available on Steam yet.

Only editable one is game.cfg:

p.s. 2hrs in and the game is brilliant! Even though it's supposed to only be DX9 it looks amazing. I miss the open environments of the first two games, but there are still a lot of tactical options and the grand scale of things makes up for it. Nanosuit ftw! Smart AI and tactics are a welcome breathe of fresh air after all the stale shooting gallery FPSes that have come out lately.

Create an autoexec.cfg file in your game install directory and you can tune a bunch of stuff. Just put = between the command and number.

Here's mine:
