Crysis 2 review - single player (MyGaming)

Crysis 2 was awesome , 1 was too much for my machine
Only much later was I able to enjoy it but still not at ultra , here I think is where Crysis 2 won out, if it was because they did a console release so be it , end of the day it looked good enough to play and satisfied.
What most fail to realise is that what is good and acceptable to me or you wont be to someone else, gameplay or GFX wise.
I have no problem with developers making sequels for more money , as long as I am entertained.

Innovation is far and few inbetween , when everygame is a clone of the last it all comes down to one Question was it Fun ?
Not Everygame well be or can be a Crysis (Tech demo or not it was fun) , or a God of War or a Arkham Asylam .

Enjoyment is all that really matters at the end of the day.

I didn't enjoy it that much. I found it to be a bit to FPSish, but it did get better when the aliens appeared more. I think I might play it again while the wait for the darkness 2 continues..

But it is an FPS... what did you expect... an RPG or 3rd person action adventure?

Sorry that sounds sarcastic, please explain what you mean.

I think he may be saying he didnt like shooting people he wanted to Shoot aliens ...........LOL

not sure he knows what FPS is ..... should we tell him?

Well I dont want to call the man an idiot until I am sure he is one. Which is why I asked that he explains what he meant, it could be that we are just misunderstand the poor dude.

good point , back on point though
Crysis 1 and 2 are very impressive , both technically and graphically .Not many know the effort that goes into coding a game
and how easy it is for the copy paste urge to take over ( see Duke Nukem that crap from last year , and Bullet storm double crap )
So when you see the detail in these games that try to expand the mould not break it , you cant but help feeling the respect.
Its the reason I pay for games , and read reviews so I know what to stay away from.
Pity the Multiplayer was so full of haxers.

Yep. Having recently done a few very basic examples (scrolling 1945 clone being the most recent) it is truly mind boggling how much effort goes into titles like Crysis or Skyrim. Maybe that's while I am more forgiving of bugs or little hickups.

...It be interesting to see when 3 comes out if it comes out where it takes the IP in comparison to 2 and 1 :)

Yeah it will be, I like the urban jungle setting and hope they keep it. I just want it to be better balanced for stealth, currently playing on Super Soldier difficulty and as long as I dont get spotted its a cake walk, but if the enemy gets me in their sights not even maximum armor can save you.

I understand a lot, A LOT, of work goes into making games, not just done in spare time for the love of making games I know that. But when a company gives me a product that was just developed to make money, instead of providing me with a great experience whilst making the company a lot of money, then I get kind of irritated.

I enjoyed the first Crysis a lot more than the second and by expressing my opinion I get hated on by other people who always think they know better and call us elitist? Isn't that an elitist attitude in itself?

Everygame's purpose is firstly to make money, your enjoyment there of is a by product, even if a beneficial by product.

We're not hating on you, we're just not agreeing & expressing our own opinions.
I was Hating on Alan coz everything is always the fault of consoles.

That's an entirely subjective opinion. I enjoyed Crysis 2 a lot more than Crysis. I found the gameplay and controls in Crysis to be utterly atrocious. Everything feels so stiff and rigid.

Both games are of equal awsomeness. You cant say which is better because......Nanosuit.
Although Crysis 2 does showoff how insanely powerful the suit is, I mean the player character is almost dead but the suit is keeping him going and he is still showing the aliens their own assess.

Even though it's a lot closer to other FPSs, Crysis 2 is still not a mindless FPS and is a major step up from most of them. You still have to think about how you approach situations and it's a lot more than just 'run and gun'. It's a properly sophisticated shooter.

Fun is subjective. The problem is almost all FPS games including games from series originally aimed at people with a different idea of "fun" are all being molded into the essentially the same thing for the masses idea of "fun" to maximise profit.

I disagree. The primary motive is not always money for game developers although today it's increasingly becoming profit motivated. That's why there are still a few game developers around who don't aim for the mass market but focus on small loyal niche markets.

and I'm not blaming consoles. I blame developers out to make an easy buck.

And they are the ones filing for bankruptcy. A game studio is first and foremost a business, without income they wouldn't be able to pay salaries, which would mean no staff which would mean no game. The End.

here is a cool vid that explains it.

As for not blaming consoles...

...to sell as many copies as possible. Hence it's release on console.

You will have to forgive me but that post seems a tad contradicting.

Cool video, thanks! :D

I think you misinterpret what Alan was saying regarding consoles.

...to sell as many copies as possible. Hence it's release on console.

If they wanted to sell as many copies as possible, would they release it on pc? No, they would release it on console because of the fact that they will be making a 'kakhuis' full of money by doing so and also release it on pc for a few extra bucks.

Any developer would choose consoles as his main market because of the masses playing on the platform and the higher chances of getting paid for their product.

I think that most PC gamers don't have an issue with games being developed for consoles and then being ported to pc (if they get ported), the issue we have is that developers tend to treat the PC like a console instead of treating a PC like a PC. This meaning we would like to have customizable graphic options to tweak the game to work on our systems if we experience trouble with the game, as well as customizable controls and not hard-coded controls.

And if the developers can, please release a DirectX 11 patch and some HD textures for us to test out our hard ware and actually make use of the high end graphics cards some of us are sporting, because testing out your imba dual GPU DirectX 11 capable card with DirectX 9 games, could've been done with your card you had 6 years ago.

Like Paradox or Bohemia Interactive?

Crytek would not have gone bankrupt if they'd not dumbed down the game and released it only on PC. The fanbase from the original was big enough. They just got greedy.

How so? It's the developers who chose to release games for dummies for console.
