Dangerous multi-plugs are still available in SA

My TV broke because of one of these. If you will be using a multiplug for multiple expensive electronics, rather invest in a proper one.
This is quite alarming as well, how do you actually check?

Check that the item you're buying bears the SABS mark of approval instead of some cheap-ass chinese product.

If it's not approved by the SABS (The ONLY Accredited testing lab in SA) then their accreditation isn't worth the paper it's written on.

So they basically say it's dangerous if you flip the plug around... or if you put your finger in the hole...

If you do this, you should die in any case(or at least have your components blow up)...

Mine looks different at least. And it wasn't the cheapest one there, so that should help. I'll be going back to check for an SABS mark though, just to be safe.

We have had a couple of these fail at the office, they just make a spark and then trip the power as soon as you plug more than 1 thing in it.... i asked the bosses to stop going to game or makro to buy these cheap as plugs....

I keep hoping someone will do a sale on the "dangerous" multi-plugs from Ellies. I'll buy several. I am fairly certain we'll manage to not put plugs in upside down or with one pin in the next socket.
