Dawn of War III announced

Bit disappointed it will only have 3 factions. What's up with that?

Otherwise it sounds amazing. More 40k games are never a bad thing.

My guess is that the 3 factions during launch will open the gates to DLC's with additional factions much like DoW 1 and 2 did.

Yeah, probably. It's just strange that it ships with only 3 when both DoW and DoW2 both shipped with 4 at release. I would have expected Chaos to make an appearance, at least, considering the big role they play in the 40k universe.

Unless maybe it is set in the 30k timeline, when Chaos was still relatively unknown to the mankind. It would be awesome if we could get a game that takes place during the Horus Heresy.

Perhaps, Chaos will feature in the campaign, but not as playable race. There will be fighting between the 3 factions, as there always has been and will always be. Then I wonder how 2 will tie into 3, unless it's is as you stated it occurs in the 30k timeline.
 
Maybe they will do the same as with fantasy and release Chaos as a day 1 dlc.

Just wish they would go with a lesser known SM chapter for a change. The Lamenters could be a basis for an interesting story line.
