Dawn of War III to be announced at Gamescom, probably

"MMO-like"...this has me scared...

Just give me a solid SINGLE player experience that does not require a damn inet connection PLEASE. Otherwise I will buy the game and then simply crack the hell outa it ala AC:2. Also would it be too much to ask to bring back some decent base building? Don't get me wrong here, I loved DoW II and the expansions and the game style...but I have to regularly go back to RA2, CnC3 etc for my base building fix. Yes SC is there as well, but I don't really play that multiplayer.

Anyway. Looking forward to this reveal.

Pff.. I sincerely doubt that it'll be anything beyond co-op.

They might use MMO elements (open world, quests, whatever), I don't know, but I doubt it would be anything ghastly. Relic have known what they were doing so far :3

Meh, for me to go back to the genre, they'd have to go back to the RTS roots and move away from the action-strategy approach of the second game. I like base building more.

Well, its RTS roots basically consisted mostly of learning to Zerg-rush. If you didn't know how to rush, you were screwed. I prefer what they did with the second instalment--I loved the RPG and tactical elements although WHY they had to use Games for Windows LIVE is beyond me (so glad they got rid of that with Retribution).

I'd be quite happy with a combination of both, which is what they seem to be keen on doing with III, but we'll have to see.

I have faith in Relic, they're a developer I trust to know what they're doing.

Lycan...I do hope you are right. So far I have loved the DoW series to bits. Hell, we still lan the first set of expansions on a regular basis.

Will just have to keep my ear to the ground and stay on top of this.

:D

Put it this way, if I find out that they're completely ruining the series, I'm hardly going to support them, but whenever I think of a Warhammer game (a good one), it's always a Relic game. They know how to bring the IP to life and I don't think there's a developer than can do it as well as they do.

I'm also hugely looking forward to Space Marine :3

What I loved about the first Dawn of War games was the planetary domination. LOVED it :D I'd like to see that in the next iteration again.

He described Dawn of War III as “sort of MMO-like,” playing out against a “global battle”.

Yes, the MMO reference irks me a little because I don't know what they mean by that but I has teh faiths, damnit! :p

*Sigh*, I enthusiastically bought DoW II after having played DoW I with all its BRILLIANT expansions. Sadly I was disappointed to find the base building had been thrown out the window :(

The new DoW looked great and the overall gameplay was fine but there was no fun because you couldn't build an indestructible base with an even more indestructible army, see it all die and start over again.

I really hope they bring back the base building, RA3 and C&C3 only gives so much pleasure...

I also want to try SCII but I'm still scraping the courage together to buy it.
