DayZ Discussion Thread.

Sorry to bring up an old and dead thread, but I am still struggling.

When I try to join a server it states something went wrong. The first time it claimed I need to update a file, unfortunately I clicked too fast so I don't know exactly what files it was, only something(numbers) -finalized.

The second time, same message in game about something went wrong, but no info on the file.

Here is my Dayz Commander screen:



Sorry for size, but I want everything to be readable.

The files that are not installed, are they needed, or just extra maps? And can I manually download it somewhere, since it crash within a few seconds whenever I want to download them.

Or should I just forget about this game, like I already did with ARMA, 'cause it was not meant for a person like me?
 
Firstly, which server are you trying to join? Is it modded or unmodded? If it is modded, you need to download the corresponding mod. It is also possible you don't have the correct beta update. Always try and keep your beta patch up to date by downloading the latest beta patches here: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php
 
Also remeber to verify file integrity with steam otherwise manually download the dayz folder and overwrite your existing one and lastly uninstall and manually install battleye hope this helps

p.s you can also try and forward your ports but I don't think that its applicable to your case
 
Ok Plassie will be happy to hear this I finally got the game thru a steam special :p. Playing ZA 5

Het my Level 1 Huis al op. Ons is seker so 8-10 SS manne op daai server. Ek is ten volle gekit join ons da een aand. Het nou die aand 3 choppers gesteel :)

What's the longest you have been able to survive?

And I love using VoIP instead of ingame chat. Makes for fun activities at night ;)
 
So nobody has posted here in about a year and a half. Is everyone over DayZ? I stopped about a year ago because they were dragging the development out unncessarily and focusing on the wrong issues, but I'm thinking of giving it another go. How is it nowadays? Any chance it can recapture the magic of the original mod yet?

I haven't played in easily more than a year also, haven't kept up with the development either, but would give it another bash if they actually fixed things. It was the player movement/interactions and the zombie movement that put me off.

The game has seen some optimization, it looks quite a bit better and they've improved little things like the crosshair ect.
Broken legs from tripping over a grass blade is not common anymore.
That said the current loot distribution model is rubbish, the loot spawns all over the place, police stations still have the usual pistols with a couple of Mp5's and on the odd occasion a Cz75. Best loot is still from chopper crashes although the chances of finding one are ultra rare.

Then there is the player base....There are no friendly players left.
Gave a new player some food, water and a pistol with ammo (Ammo split into small pile) he says thanx and sounds ultra happy...I run away,10 seconds later the same player is running after me trying to shoot and kill me for my rifle...
Hackers are still in the game, we spotted a guy running across a field at about 20 times the normal speed, same player shot myself and my mate through a wall and killed us both instantly with a makarov pistol...yeah super legit.

all in all it's still an unfinished piece of shit.
