DayZ Standalone pre-Alpha - Finally here

Anybody else notice the Roads in the North - I suspect a City might be added there. Got a metropolis layout.

Yea i posted the link as well, but seems in the wrong DayZ thread :D

LOL!! I almost did the same thing but it seems the other thread is more a DayZ Mod thread.

@Stunt: The north is usually a high PvP area in the mod and covered with towns and helicopter crash sites. (This depends on the server you are on but usually the norm.) At the moment there is not much way up north.

I just really want to see this:

"We absolutely plan to have more zombies. To cope with the current total dynamic entity count of over 10000 we have had to make a great deal of optimizations. If loot is completely removed, we can easily run 4000 zombies in our debug builds. In the new year we will be optimizing the way we handle dynamic objects (such as loot) a great deal more which should give us significant savings - but the change was considered too risky to be done prior to alpha launch. If we had problems, we would have delayed the project further by months."

I'm talking about the SA in essence that something might be being planned for that space :)

Yeah, I traveled along the strip of road there a while back and it definitely looks like we'll be getting massive city area there. I spotted a football field and a small park with a tree in the middle along that road.

Well the new patch is adding a whole new village will probably be placed at guba bay so yes the trend will probably follow till all those spaces are filled.

Excited about this. Hope we get 100 player servers in the future as well!

I saw that. Unfortunately, the whole minecraft thing doesn't really appeal to me :p
Also my noob friends jumped in and bought it. Deciding if I should be noob and join them or stick with logic, pending answers to above question :o

I have rust, it's a great game, but I want to jump in and play a few hours and leave.
I DO NOT want to to log in to a game where I have been murdered in my sleep and my house raided and must now try harvest resources to make weapons at peak times.
I do not want to play late at night to raid other peoples houses (Although I see the HUGE appeal in that;))

The greatest Pleasure for me in DayZ is finding loot and that insanely tense feeling when you loot a military base wondering if someone is around the corner.

I have played both and the way I see it DayZ is a job friendly game, Rust not so much.

But alas I'm shocked at clocking 45 hours in less than a week, I's so hooked on this game, it's pretty awesome. With all the KOS going on and the backstabbing I am so tense and paranoid in game.

Even if some one states they are friendly you CANNOT trust them I'm afraid, It's every man for himself.
Yesterday I was hold up in the north east airfield and some one was outside, he was friendly and asked for a cease fire, I had geared myself to the best point I have been in ages(especially the pristine zoomed scope for my m4 and wasn't about to risk loosing it all)Ihad my crosshair pointed at the door and simply said "Please do not come in, I'm pretty tense and I might shoot if you enter', Needless to say I stared at that door for 10 very long minutes and he didn't come inside.

Smart man.

Yep. I am just saying that in the Mod it is very populated, with the success of the Mod they will probably try to mimic that in the SA.
Sadly map expansion is not high on the list of todo's at the moment.

I ran all the way west a few days ago looking for the edge of the map. There seems to be none.
I ran for about 30 minutes after I reached the "end" of the map and it seemed to go on forever. ^_^

@Joy-Energiser: If you are looking for someone to run with in DayZ that will not stab you in the back, give me a shout. Sadly due to the KOS my way of playing has also changed a lot. These days I camp out in the treelines and keep an eye out for people that KOS. Then I track them, kill them and teabag them. I also saw two noodz punching it out. I tried to break up the fight by offering them food but they both turned on me. T_T had to gun them down.

You might wanna crank up your anisotropic filtering. :p

A mate of mine who played the mod and is now playing the Day Z alpha says the standalone game is like chalk and cheese when compared with the mod. Can anyone confirm this?

Its quite abit different, the feel of the game is the same, much better inventory system, although it still is abit slow.

The actual feel and movement of the Standalone still feels very slow and clunky to me, still have fun with it though.

Okay cool, if I have some spare cash later on down the line I'll buy a copy. I should've bought one already given how a friend of mine has been nagging me to play.

Ok, this might be off topic. but I would like to know before I buy this game, would it run on my Laptop.

Ive got the ASUS ROG Gaming one
Specs:
I7-2630QM 2.0GHz
8GB Ram
GTX 460M 1GB
Windows 7 64-bit

I play DayZ Mod but its hogs my system I need to scale down from 1600x900 to 1280x720 on medium to play it without lag.

Would be nice to know as ive read reviews and checked online to make sure I can play it but i just want to make 100% sure.

Thanks

A friend of mine plays his on a PC with a 2.9ghz dual-core CPU with a GTS450 and 4GB ram, and he has to set everything to low to play it smoothly. I guess in your case it would depend on how well the mobile GTX460M compares to a desktop card like the 450.
