Dead Island launched unfinished? Massive launch day patch planned

As long as its a patch and not DLC I don't care, I'm glad to see though they are fixing the game and not charging gamers for the fixes...like some other idjits.

This reminds me of the time a reinstall BC2 and bam 3gig gone, like down down down down dowwwwnnnnnn.

ALARMIST HEADLINES ARE ALARMIST.

Saying software is unfinished just because it has some bugs shows a complete lack of knowledge about software development. They are still fixing bugs in TF2 and that's like 5yrs old, so I guess that's also unfinished. Not sure how this classifies as a MASSIVE LAUNCH DAY PATCH since there no mention of patch size and just judging from the fixes it will probably be just a regular launch day patch of a couple MB.

Indeed. Charging for it would be a dick move.

One thing though...I know that this has online functionality but I have also read that it can be played as single player...what if these okes who buy the game don't have internet? I know a lot of people who don't play games online or people who have no internet to speak of...will they be playing a broken game?

Saw on RPS that it was the Dev Debug version.

In any case they should and must fix the problems.

Devs are getting lazy ..... beta for polishing out your bugs man, don't just push a shitty version out.

Read again. They didn't push a shitty version out that they were too lazy to fix, they released the wrong version by accident. Negligence isn't much better, but at least it's not laziness. From the sounds of it, they actually released the 460 version on Steam by accident. :o

Just hope this doesn't affect the retail version and won't push the release date back.

Great news, and good job from the developer. In the reviews the only thing that brought the review down was bugs and maybe the storyling or something like it. Even then the reviewer looked past it coz the game was fun... so with this big ass patch they releasing it can get better.

But anyways, still have try the game myself... but zombie FPS/RPG? Yesh please!

Negligence is a form of laziness, point is valid .....

Depends on how you look at it, I guess. Laziness would be pushing this version out on purpose, without a care in the world. Negligence is pushing out the wrong version by accident. I reckon everyone would agree that these guys wouldn't push a version as broken as this out on purpose. The fact that they've already got a giant patch out for it should speak volumes.
