Dead Island launched unfinished? Massive launch day patch planned

Well, I got a patch to my pre-load on Steam earlier today.

It was pretty tiny in size, but I have no idea if that was it or something else.

Hopefully the biggest problems will have been fixed by Friday! Coop is going to be great, methinks :D

Edit: Just got another 76.6MB update. Maybe that's the one.

I would hold off on dling the Steam version just yet, might have to redownload a significant portion.

Epic. :)

From the sounds of it, only the US version has issues. UK version (meaning ours) isn't affected at all.

I'm impressed with the speed at which they are rolling out the patches.

If you (like me) purchased Test Drive Unlimited 2 this year you would know Atari/Eden took WEEKS to release a patch to fix all the problems that were present at launch. And the next big patch which includes another host of fixes has been "coming" since April this year. Pathetic.

Reviews are not looking great on metacritic. Besides, I like guns and this FPS melee thing just doesn't sound that great. I think I'll give this a skip. Was really excited about it.

Yeah, um, Metacritic wouldn't be any way to measure whether this game is worth it right now. The working version hasn't even been released yet.

I think that game developers just need to do more testing... they clearly don't do enough of it.

-_-

Honestly? Did you even bother following the news (or the rest of the thread, for that matter) on this? They released the wrong version. Not a buggy version. The wrong one. Instead of releasing the polished, working version, they released the unfinished, test version by accident.

Well that was only the Steam version, the retail version has it's own bugs which is what the release day patch was for. The whole wrong version thing is a separate issue.
