Dead Space 2 PC Not Planned

Get ready to be cheesed off. We've already mentioned EA's financial results in our previous news about DA 2. Well, the publisher doesn't have Dead Space 2, Visceral Games' action horror sequel, in its Fiscal Q4 2011. Entries for consoles and handhelds were noted, but no word on a PC version at all.

Having the PC edition at a later date seemed like a logical idea; that is until EA public relations revealed: "As of right now a PC sku is not in the plan" (thanks, Blue).

No explanations were offered for the time being. We were recently informed that Dead Space 2 will focus more on action and less on horror elements.

my console keel 10x pc games a day ;)
my in-between casual games kill 10x AAA tiles a day :p

oh well, their loss
They don`t make it for PC, I won`t buy it. I bought the first one, and found it to be quite an enjoyable game.. for R100. (What it was worth)

Well that's a shame, but word is they are going a more action oriented route and dropping much of the horror. If that's the case then I don't want to play it anyway, since the reason I loved the original DS was the creepy horror atmosphere where the action came second to the atmosphere and mood.

Often these things get said than like a few months after its release they confirm they are porting to PC. So don't give up yet, or even better - get a console >_<

I can't say it better.

For now I'm happy with PC gaming. I mean I haven't even played the first Dead Space yet and I'm a horror gaming fan. There are just so many games. But one day I may get a console. I like all the exclusives that the PS3 is getting and I like the social games of the Wii. I think I may have to get a couple of consoles.

Stop and think for a moment.

Alien: creepy, psychological horror movie.

Aliens: action movie.

Both are brilliant. So if Dead Space 2 is the series' Aliens, I'm happy.

I never thought about it that way. I have both those movies in collectors edition too :D.

I suppose I'll wait and see what happens, I'll have to get a console at some point anyway since I'm quite limited on just the PC platform.

Time to start saving :(.

ah the joys of multiple platform gaming...

too bad my wallet hates me with a passion :p

Exactly thats the reason I played it in the first place.

Can't say this is unexpected though. If I was a game developer I wouldn't release my games on a platform which is so rife with piracy.

That would be stupid on there part if your theory holds , Piracy only accounts for 8 % of the problem , the other 92 % are legitimate buyers that supports developers .The PC market is what brought Gaming to where it is today and now the developers wan to throw that away for shiny consoles .......

Sure, because it's not like anyone ever owned a Magnavox Odyssey, Atari, Intellivision, NES, SNES, MegaDrive, NeoGeo, N64, PSOne, Dreamcast, PS2, or Gamecube, right?

FACT! Gaming started out on console. Gaming has always been popular on console. Gaming does not owe the PC market anything.

8% of the problem? You don't attend a lot of LANs do you? The amount of legitimate games around there is closer to the 8% you are throwing around.

Piracy is the norm when it comes to pc gaming.

QFT.

So lan gamers represent the majority of pc gamers?? Not all pc gamers attend lan's. Yes piracy is a problem but your figures of only 8% of pc gamers being legitimate is a massive exageration.

Dead space probably just didn't sell on the pc for whatever reason. From the ea investors announcement we can see other games like dragon age2,mass effect3,spore title TBA,need for speed new title,crysis2,ect will be coming to the pc along with the console. Some games sell across platforms while others don't .

If you note I was throwing around inverted versions of the numbers that the previous poster was throwing around.

That aside, you won't be able to really measure the pirate:legitimate user rate, considering that there are so many sources of the pirated material.

Mm, as I recall, the PC port of Dead Space had a lot of control issues. It might've impacted sales, it might not. It's a bit of an unusual move developing for Xbox without developing a PC port, but I guess they've done their maths.

Having said that, I shouldn't be surprised to see a PC port a little after the console release regardless.
