Dead Space 3 review round-up

Doesn't sound good, but it's kinda what I was expecting.

IGN: 7.8/10
Gamespot: 8/10
Eurogamer: 7/10

Kotaku:

Should you play this game?

NO

Why: Because this isn't how Dead Space should be remembered. Play 1 or 2 instead, and savor the happy (creepy) memories.

I couldn't give a shit what Kotaku (I always take everything I read there with a bag of salt) or anyone else says about this. I know I am gonna love this game. Friday night can't come soon enough. :D

I also don't really care that much that they've made it more of an action game because (to me at least) it makes sense: Isaac has been through 2 necromorph episodes already and I'm pretty sure he can handle himself "like a boss" by now. Also looking forward to giving co-op a shot once I finish the singleplayer campaign.

Also some more reviews (from Metacritic):

Game Informer 98
Joystiq 90
Eurogamer Italy 80
The Escapist 80
Destructoid 80

I dunno. I've been reading the actual reviews and I'm very worried. It sounds like one of the main gripes is it becomes tedious with you doing a lot of the same things over and over and over (read: fetch quests).

Either way, I don't generally put a lot of stock in commercial reviews either, but when sites that usually give these kind of games highly inflated scores gives a game average scores, then there's reason to worry, imo. The fact that it couldn't get 8.0 from IGN is reason enough, as those guys faff over everything and love giving inflated scores.

I guess I'll hold off until it's R100. Until then I'll just replay the first two games. I still haven't done NG+ on either.

i usually go with Eurogamer, they seem to be the most objective of the lot around 90% of the time

Dead Space 3 can still be a Dead Space... As long as they hold the player's attention, and keep giving those creepy (want-to-jump-out-of-your-seat) scares.

Also - I expect the voice acting to be very good. Good voice acting keeps (IMO) the player glued to the game.

I dunno the gamespot review says the exploration and side quests are a strength while the ign review says they are tedious. I would of thought the extra exploration would compliment the expanded crafting system.

I still think it should be a pretty good game, agree with Wlad - cant wait for friday to start playing!!
