Hi all,

My friend has blown his PSU and GFXcard. He can only afford to spend about 2k. Any suggestions or offers?

Thanks,
HoboMincer

Hi guys re-post this but I put up my rig in another thread about a pc upgrade and I wanted to keep my graphics card only to hear it does not support DX11 I have the XFX 9600GT. I was wanting to know what cards I should look into.. would I be able to get something decent for R1000-R1500?? The games I play are a little of everything, FPS, MMO, RTS, RPG... Just looking for something to keep me going for the next couple of years..

If I were you, I would wait until I could afford a GTX560Ti. Its what I have and it is great. You can pick one up for a little above 2k but since you don't need a new card immediately, I'd wait till I had the money to get it. I'd recommend it to my friend but he is impatient and computerless :P If you want something to last you a couple of years though, you are going to struggle. With PC's, its constant upgrading. My GTX560Ti will last about 3years before games no longer run nicely on it. That is my guess. I could be wrong, games could be reaching their finite awesomeness and upgrading will no longer be neccessary. But I doubt it.

Yeah, I have not kept track of nVidia side of things recently. May be a better deal yet.

I was always an ATI fan myself until a friend recommended I get a GTX560Ti and I couldn't be happier. Runs anything on full (at the moment.

I was also an ATI fan. Haven't had any Nvidia cards through the yeaTX580. I have no words to describe the awesomeness :D

PS. I was going to ask you why the hell you would get a 5770 if you had the 560, but then I saw it was for your friend lol. Must have been really tired when I read your post last night.

lol. yep, no way I'm downgrading. I wouldn't survive. Once you go black, you never go back! *snaps fingers in a typically african american fashion* (Not that I think this post of mine was at all on topic:p)

Awesome! Sounds like the GTX560Ti is quite a good card!! The only problem is that I have is that I have found 7 different brands of the GTX560Ti ranging from R2700 right up to R4000!!! Here are some of the brands I have found...

Leadtek
Gigabyte
Zotac
Ausus
EVGA
MSI

Any brand in particular I should look at and which ones to stay clear from??

They are all good:

ASUS
Gigabyte
EVGA
Zotac

I would stay away from Leadtek many stories about their cards kaking.
Dont know about MSI, never used there cards.

Thanks Frank007.. I have narrowed it down to possibly these 2 cards...

But I think I may only be able to afford this...

haha. That is funny. If I had to choose between those "3" that you put there, i would go for the Gigabyte. It has better cooling than the Zotac meaning that it will probably overclock cooler, not necessarily better but i have had the Gigabyte GTX460OC (still got one in my rig for Physx) and they OC like beasts!

How much for that bottom one? THAT looks sick! Some new technology? Doesn't even have a heatsink, it must run SUPER cool thus no need for cooling!

:p

AND it benches Tetris like a coach whose player has a knee going the wrong way.

The 560Ti is a very fast card, and the windforce ones are even faster.
