Delivery times from online retailers to major cities

So last night at around 7, I discovered that my eBucks was paid in for last month and decided to buy a couple of things from Takealot. DVDs, Games, mouse pad... the usual.
Today, I got a phone call from the delivery company asking me if I'm home so that they can deliver and then they delivered about an hour ago.

The order was placed last night after hours, so the order probably only got processed this morning, effectively making it a same-day delivery.

Is this a common occurrence here in the city when ordering from online retailers like Takealot and Kalahari? Or was this just Takealot showing off their fast processing times or something?
 
Do you guys live in Cape Town? Think thats where takealot are based.
Everything usually takes a week ,max, for me.
 
Takealot use Mr delivery, which will deliver pretty much any time. I have had many packages delivers after 7 at night.
 
At 18h30 today I got a delivery for a DVD drive I ordered at about 10h00 in the morning, Takealot are probably the fastest in terms of delivery, while Kalahari will deliver on the next working day, provided that your order was before 10h00 a.m.

Used to be Nelspruit and there Kalahari usually delivered the next day if I ordered before 12, but otherwise 2 days. (That is for their 24 hour deliveries)

Yep, the guy got here just after 19:00.



So in this case, thumbs up to Takealot then... Glad they started accepting eBucks.
 
So I had another one of those midnight orders last night after reaching breaking point with my current mouse. Delivered before 13:00 today. Takealot has a new fan. I think I should try pre-ordering games from them in future if I pre-order again.
 
I've ordered stuff from Takealot as late as 2 PM, and had it delivered the same afternoon. I recently had a special Saturday delivery on an item that had been delayed for some reason.

I live in Cape Town, though, where Takealot's HQ is.
 
I've also experienced excellent delivery times from Takealot, only qualms I have is that their packaging could be done a bit better.
A couple of times the packaging has gotten squished!
