Demon's Souls PS3

Excellent, shot man. I reckon I'll go back to have a go at the Tower Knight then.

Do you not think it's better to pump all your points into one aspect i.e. either melee or magic rather than a blend of the two? Surely that'll make you more powerful overall?

And what are these phantom things? The ones I can travel to another world to help fight a boss or something? I have a stone that's supposed to send me there but I'm not sure how to use it.

Oh, and what is world tendency exactly?

Okay gents, I need some help here. This game is pwning my ass in a big way.

I'm playing as a Knight and currently pretty much every enemy is kicking the crap out of me thus far. I killed the first boss (the blob thing) and did one or two weapon and soul upgrades (as well as retrieving the valuable Cling Ring), but now I can barely venture anywhere without getting killed ad nauseum.

So...

1. Are there any upgrades I should purchase specifically?
2. What area is best to tackle first?
3. Should I be playing as another class to ease me into things?
4. When does the game save your progress?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I think the real problem here is that you are playing Demon's Souls when you clearly should be playing Madden 10 :P

Well, you can pump everything into one aspect if you really want to, but I don't think it's a good idea. In my first playthrough I pumped everything into strength, dexterity, endurance and vitality (I wanted to focus on melee). It worked perfectly fine during the first playthrough, but as soon as you enter new game + you learn that it is a much better idea to be able do to magic and melee. The game is literally almost 10 times harder and many enemies are weak to magic and many are weak to melee. You also get some pretty powerfull spells and melee items. My magic and will was like 12 or something while me other stats were in the high 30's. I now have to farm for hours on end just to build up my magic and will so I can use some of the more powwerfull spells.

I believe that world tendency is how the world and its creatures react to your actions. For example, killing an innocent NPC will give you points towards Black tendency, which makes the worlds creatures more difficult, but you also gain more souls and better items.

I remember reading if you get Pure Black tendency, some special demons appear, and you have to kill them if you want to lean towards white tendency. They drop cool items I think o_O

To go into other players' worlds all you have to do is use you your blueye stone. It will place a soul marker on the ground which other players in your level range will see and they can then use it to summon you. You can only do this when in soul form. When you are in body form you can summon other people into your world, just look around for blue message markers on the ground, those are soul signs.

World tendency is basically like your alignment towards good or evil. The blacker it gets, the harder enemies are to kill and the more souls you get. The whiter it is the easier enemies become and you get a bit less souls. Prety much what Hraffnir said. Getting Pure black tendency will grant you acces to certain secret areas in the levels as well as some rare items, but it makes the game insanely hard and there will also be a lot of NPC black phantoms in your game.

Check out this wiki http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/faqs, they explain everything about world and character tendency and it is a very usefull source of knowledge when playing the game.

Yeah, I just discovered that wiki site, highly valuable source of information. Reckon I'm going to abandon the Knight and give the Temple Knight a go for a more balanced experience.

I'm playing as the Temple Knight at the moment and i've got it up to level 63 so far. I'm using the largest shield and strongest armor possible with a Halberd and Spear. So basically i'm slow moving but have a high damage output.

Hmmm, on average, how many times do you guys die in a level/area, and how long does it usually take to kill a bossy?

I'm curious as to just how difficult this game is. o_O

Dying to play it in October ^_^

I'm playing with a Wanderer, am level 125 now. I also carry a heavy shield and heavy armour, as well as a HUGE meatcleaver, but I wear a ring of great strength so I can still roll around and move fast.

It's hard to estimate how much I die per level, it depends on how hard I'm concentrating. usually about 4 or 5 times per level I guess and then maybe another 3 - 5 times per boss, depending on what boss you're fighting and what startegy you're using.

The game really is INSANELY difficult, especially on new game +, but even in the first playthrough you are definitely going to die a LOT. The game is also very, very rewarding.

You might be dying to play it now, but you're also gonna be dying when you play it :p

It took me more or less 60 hours, I took my time exploring in the beginning and I also farmed A LOT. What level were you after your first playthrough?

Good luck dude, I was level 91 after the first playthrough and I didn't stand a chance against the enemies. I am currently farming to get my level up before attempting to finish it again. I am now level 125 and I still get my ass handed to me :p

For some reason I didn't find the game to be that hard and I didn't die that much either. Maybe it was the class I was playing?

The first time around was hard for me, very hard. I also didn't die that much later on, and the most difficult thing wasn't the bosses (some of them were child's play) but those black phantom npc's and Old King Doran. The real difficulty kicks in on the second playthrough, though. Maybe you're just uber good! :p

Let me know how you find the game on your second playthrough, I really wanna know if you still don't find it that hard. :D
