It's hard to sum it up better than the two aforementioned reviews.
My impressions, quite simply, I like the game.
I don't often have time to game in the week due to work and life's various tasks, but I have been squeezing in as much time with Destiny as I can.
The random events while exploring a map - cue giant spider tank being droppedfrom the heavens; joining a fire-team to shoot the cr** out of the Fallen or Hive, and then going on your merry way; the multiple gameplay options seamlessly joined - I think Bungie has done a good job.
Despite the complaints about the size of the maps, they are not too bad and there is a lot of room to explore (and die) on Earth and the Moon (I have not gone to the other planets yet).
In terms of the game's functionality, I have only had two instances where it stopped for a second or two and said "loading". The play has been smooth and the servers seem to be keeping up. The matchmaking is quick, and the Crucible plays is quick and fun.
Joining guys for strike mission was also a straightforward affair and, despite not communicating to the verbally or through any sort of chat menu, the mission was a success.
It seems Destiny has lured FPS players with a basic understanding of tactics.
Overall, I would say yes to Destiny. And I think it is a game that might even convince me to buy an expansion pass.
