Diablo 3 Beta - Feedback :}

madh4tt3r that is what I believe as well. So far the latency has really not bothered me at all. Ive played with worse in Aion, wow and various other games.

yea same, when i had iburst wow was fun at 600ms still so honestly 400ms wont bother me much, although guess ill see tonight or 2moro when its done with the DL. how long is the beta so far? is there any kind of time limit in which you have to use the key?

@madh4tt3r, you can use the key till they stop the beta and get ready for release. (and I'm think rls date will be anytime from mid May to April)

Basically I see it this way atm:

If you just stick to the paths and kill monsters in your way and go down a level when u find the "door" it will take you +- 1 hour 10 mins and you will be level 9 (or almost L9) when you kill the skeleton king and "finish" the beta.

If you explore most places you can find and kill most monsters it can take you anywhere around 2 and a half hours or more to finish it.

Of course then you can just do it all over again until you reach the level 13 cap the beta has and unlock a few more spells (takes a few runs to get to L13)

And that you can do with all 5 classes obviously.

I just got in the beta via opt-in, so go check your accounts, people! I'll give feedback as soon as I've played a bit.

Played it last night at a friends place. Really loving it, and I don't think any South African has to worry about ping and lag really. I played with about 300-400 ms on US server and had no lag in combat, I also played a public co op game and didn't lag either. So it's all good and I can't wait now... :(

Does anyone know how to solve the issue where the game is downloaded and up to date but the play button is greyed out? I got one of the megarom keys on friday afternoon. Ive downloaded the beta a number of times, restarted, firewall exceptions and disabled AV...still no luck and blizzard support havnt supplied any info on how to solve this both over email and on the support forum thread, other than "try restart the launcher a few times"

Got into the BETA a while ago through Blizzard opt-in program. Stoked too as I failed to win out of the 100 competitions I entered.
Played through with Monk and busy with DH now. Haven't had enough time to milk it, but having about 10-12 hours total played time, below is my feedback.

Telkom SAIX Account - 10meg line syncing @ 6meg - Decent rig.

Latency: Given the BETA servers are in the US and being pummeled by many players... If your latency is above 400 or so, the game becomes VERY annoying and everything has a delay on it. Most noticeable on attacks and looting. Much more noticeable than any MMO thats for sure. Every now and then my latency bar would drop to GREEN status (good) and I felt the game to be extremely fluid.. But it would change to YELLOW/RED not before long. I am hoping that we can somehow test EU servers somehow or that I can "test" what my latency will be like cos this is a deal-breaker for me. That being said I am pretty sure we'll be ok. When I used to play WoW on EU servers, my latency was between 280 and 400 without any proxy's / lowerping etc.

Mechanics: Given I have played mostly on the Monk, I really enjoy the gameplay and all the "advances" they have made. Destroyable everything, physics on most objects, movement, mob attack patterns etc. Its Diablo II improved to the max from a gameplay POV. I like the looting style and the items all feel like they belong in the game (given we haven't seen legendaries or set items yet).

Graphics: Meh, not exactly mind-blowing, but decent enough to have you drool now and then. You need to remember, Blizzard cater for the mass-market and couldn't go all Frostbite/CryEngine on us. The interfaces are awesome though. The bottom bar is unobtrusive (playing @ 1920x1080) and the only thing I would change or hopefully be able to move is the nasty chat window.

Overall: Unfortunately right now, I won't pre-order until I am sure I can play with atleast sub 400ms. Otherwise I won't enjoy the experience and given the amount of hype D3 has been building up, they heartbreak would be too bad to bare. Other than that, I can say that I am very impressed. Having played almost every Diablo clone in the past 5 years for atleast a few hours, this is still the grand-daddy of ARPGs. Lets hope the game gets released sooner rather than later and that latency isn't the biggest barrier to entry for us SA gamers.

(i would like to try MP sometime. please add me: Phatso#2511

Where do you see the latency bar?

Pre-purchase DLC *erm*.

To all my fellow D3, SC2 and WOW players, PM me ur characters names or bnet names so i can add u to friends list pls :D
Would be nice to have a bunch of local people in game.

And i can finally say after nearly 3 weeks of not being able to play due to issues with the D3 client and then the dreaded 315300 error, on saturday afternoon i finally was able to log into D3!!!! :D the sheer joy was spilling forth from me like a waterfall while my two friends that i was lanning with were secretley (not really secretely :P ) plotting my demise as they didnt have beta keys. Started up a demon hunter and played for a bit before we continued lanning. Latecy wasnt too bad considering i was playing on the US server and we were all downloading stuff, was around 480-500 MS ping and on an EU server it will be below 300 easily.

Will report back after i get some more play time, but i must agree with Wyvern... dont want to play 2 much so the finished game becomes old hat :P

Hehehe I actually finished the beta this weekend. I just had to :P But I wont play it thru on another char I think once is enough to give you a general feel about the game and the looks and sounds. Ive still not had bad latency or laggy moments. They did change a few things with the last patch tho, my monk who used to be so OP was less so, but I wont complain since before that it felt way to easy. This actually made you use health pots and swear at the lack of spirit regen :P

LOL Crusader - save cash, you will get some nice goodies once you unlock the smithy.

Are you at least enjoying it?

All those nice goodies was changed :(

When I relogged my L13 Wizzard allot of my items I could not use as they now required L17 etc. And that goes for allot of the crafted items also.

Bring on the damn full game already :)

Yea Snowwar - same for me :P But there is still a fair few goodies to be made that is useful :P I had loads of fun tho. Crusader one night we should test out the MP aspect.

allot
verb (used with object), -lot·ted, -lot·ting.
1. to divide or distribute by share or portion; distribute or parcel out; apportion: to allot the available farmland among the settlers.
2. to appropriate for a special purpose: to allot money for a park.
3. to assign as a portion; set apart; dedicate.
